Defoe to Blackburn or Pompey?

Defoe to Blackburn or Pompey?

In a frantic transfer deadline day, it has thrown up some new information, which has been brought to my attention.

There had been talk of Jermain Defoe interesting Blackburn and Spurs are long-term admirers of Blackburn's Morten Gamst Pedersen. Vital Blackburn and Vital Tottenham have run stories on this today.

But some new information that could see him go to either Blackburn or Pompey late in the day has just been sent to me.

This is not something that has just been made up, it might not come off but it is being used so opinions can be sought.

Just had a call from my Spurs mate at one of the red tops, they are trying to confirm a story that Defoe has put in a transfer request and has had initial discussions with Blackburn with the view to a Pedersen plus £5m deal.

Spurs are pondering this however it seems Pompey have just made a similar offer of Taylor plus £5m.

Both Pedersen and Taylor are left sided players and would fit the spurs requirement.

Defoe it seems has become interested by Blackburn as they can offer Uefa cup this season and he sees this as a route back into the England fold, however Spurs prefer Taylor.

He says, and again they are trying to confirm this, but due to popularity of Taylor and Pedersen neither club want any deal to go through until the very last moment.

It's going to be a late night.

Nothing has been confirmed, but this information is some of the latest, that could be doing the rounds very soon.

As said, this is not meant as fantasy speculation or gossip.

If I was not convinced that this could have more than some truth behind it it would not be used, Vital Pompey is not into rumour mongering, within comments maybe so, but not in articles - maybe in the past but not now.

Are you sure you want Defoe? Sure in the right club he could shine I guess. but during his 122 games for spuds he only found the net 39 times..

blue is the colour ... i think my points speak for themselves!!! NO!
31/08/2007 19:14:00
This story fits as I saw somewhere today that Pedersen had been seen parking near White Hart Lane!! And Defoe was seen at Ewood last night for the UEFA game with Mypa last night.

Spoiler = Im with you how does .... Pompey minus GON, Matty & Dej plus Defoe and Johnson = improvement - Hope Rugs contact has got it wrong - Harry's not living up to his 'Santa' promise at the moment..
31/08/2007 19:20:00
im not sure what will come off, if anything, but it has come from a source that i trust completely - so with the pointer in mind you say eastneydave, it does seem to have a fiar bit of truth, particularly the blackburn part...
31/08/2007 19:20:00
tbh fellas i have said all summer i thought that defoe would sign, i also wanted him - but if we have to sacrifice taylor and cash to sign him spurs can **** right off!
31/08/2007 19:21:00
