James and Campbell selected again

James and Campbell selected again

Today is not only transfer deadline day, but is also the day that Spineless Steve selected his England squad for the Euro 2008 matches that could save his England job - or if results go badly, cost him it.

Both David James and Sol Campbell have again been named in his 26 man squad for the double header against Israel and Russia.

Spineless Steve must now make the decision on which keeper he will start with, James or Paul Robinson, with the Pompey man tipped to get the nod.

Campbell however will probably have to be content with a place on the bench, unless Spineless Steve does make the call that many, myself included, feel that he should and drops Rio Ferdinand, paring the Pompey man with captain John Terry.

Uncapped pair David Bentley and much more surprisingly Ashley Young have been called up, but on the whole it is a case of many of his usual old favourites - the ones that only he can see are worthy of a place in the squad - still getting in, with his old Boro mate Stuart Downing back in the fold, again preferred to the far better left sided option of Matty Taylor.

Another Pompey player called up for England is Martin Cranie, who has again been named in the U21 squad. He is in with a chance of adding to his 1st cap in the upcoming games against Montenegro and Bulgaria.

Do we have a fan in Car Park today then guys??? As the Picture of Johnson was obviously taken this morning holding his shirt at the New shop car park, cant we get a Vital Fan down there on his mobile to keep us informed on whats going on/down... I'll start the rumours, as a "So Called" associate who was downl the club about half hour ago, said a fan down there was telling everyone, that Coruch is at the club at this moment in time, Can anyone back this up or confirm its utter rubbish???? Im hoping its true, and have everything crossed, but i suspect its in vane and another rumour.

we will have to get eastneydave on the job :) o'neil looks like he is off for £5m, so add that to the £1m we got for dejan, minus the £3-£4m we paid for johnson that leaves us with £2-3m to play with, that might buy one of crouchy's legs - but not much more...

nope rug you are wrong matey, i have checked and am able to confidently confirm that we can afford both of his legs but only up to his knees, but if we sell muntari we can afford up to his neck, and since his head is like a 50 pence coin and his heading is crap perhapse that is all we need.

Unless you live in Goldsmith....... I think Jamo will get the nod above Robinson, seriously, how can Mcclaren justify selecting Robinson on club form or England performances .... Sol just on the bench as emergency cover I think - But hey - wer'e are talikng about Pompey players in the England squad, aint that great ?

When was the last time a Pompey player in a competitive match? My guess Jimmy Dickinson World cup 1954.

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
