Pompey sign Glen Johnson

Pompey sign Glen Johnson

The first player to arrive at Pompey today is Glen Johnson.

The England international has signed a 4 year contract for an undisclosed amount, thought to be around £3m, arriving from Chelsea.

I said earlier that 'I would not particularly want him back, as I was not that impressed with him when he was on loan last season. He started well but seemed to take his almost 'guaranteed' first team spot for granted'.

But I also said 'if he does come back clearly I will get behind the fella', which I will. Hopefully he has grown up, which should help his apparent lack of concentration, which more than lets him down at times.

One of the most positive things about this move is that Harry Redknapp has signed British, better still English.

So that is one in, but will there be more?

Great news all round. Fulham fans seem delighted to have Stefanovic and we sign Johnson which frees up Lauren's position and we have more cover for midfield.

Whilst we heard about it yesterday I'm really not sure about this one, chelsea didnt like his attitude and last year neither did Harry. GJ has said he didnt want to come back to a small club and refused to be loaned back . seems like a bit of a panic cover buy, maybe we sold him the look we have england players and you could be one of them spiel.

one in one out so far, what i would like to see next is one in NONE OUT, god i need the toilet again

Utaka Muntari Nugent Johnson Mvuemba Hreidasson Distin Cranie And to some extent we signed Kanu as well. More fantastic signings to come..... Kone joining Sevilla might make Kanoute available.

Russ hope you are back from the toilet OK. Thewhizz suggests cover players and I worry that it will cover right side and GON will go.

great signing, i love the last day of deadline its exiting lol, hope 2 see a striker come in and hope no1 else goes E.G dave nugert PUP

eastneydave: I doubt GON or MT will leave. While I'd love to see us plump up the cash for Kanoute, I think it's too late in the day for us to sell someone and for Harry to muster up his speech about Pompey are going places... It's going to be Diarra or Diop as our last signing.

tbh ive made it clear that im not sure but if he gets his attitude right he could become a star again. so it is potentially a great signing - just keep him away from the toilet fixtures and fittings!
31/08/2007 11:39:00
kanoute's new contract included a £17m release clause didnt it - so this isnt going to happen. maybe im relaxing too soon but im having a good feeling that matty taylor will stay, not so sure about o'neil now tho, but i hope beyond hope that both, aswell as nugent stay.
