The end is nigh

The end is nigh

This is it fellas, the transfer window has entered its final 24 hours, in fact we are well into it and only have some 14 hour or so to go.

Can Harry Redknapp work his magic and bring in one or more players at the death - be it on loan or in full time capacities? You can bet your last pound that he will bloody well try!

This will no doubt be a nerve jangling time, with players - around the globe - worried for their futures, as will we.

Dejan Stefanovic, who has been a fantastic servant to this club will almost certainly be one of those that does leave, with a move to Fulham looking increasingly likely, but will David Nugent, Matty Taylor and/or others join him?

I have made my feeling perfectly clear, I will be more than happy to settle with what we have, but if Redknapp can pull something off in the Andres D'Alessandro mould I will be delighted, even more so if we can keep all of our key players - you know the folks I mean, so I will not spell them out.

Okay then, take a deep breath and be prepared for a roller coaster of a day fellas. But we are Pompey so we are used to this.

Yes Rug here we go - I predicted on another forum that nobody will come in and nobody will go today .. I'd be happy with that, although I think my thoughts are on dogdy ground. Ive seen the Johnson article on SSN site ..... I thought we wanted a striker ! Seen Links to Amdy Faye and Papa Diop as well - Another two 15 a season strikers !! Well we will see but as I said nobody in and nobody out - wonder if I can get to lunchtime and still be right ?

i would happily settle for no one in if it meant no one out, but i think stefanovic will almost certainly be out and worry that glen johnson might be in, im not a fan of his tbh - as i said in another thread... i liked faye before but i think that there would be even less point signing him than there would be diop... here we go!
31/08/2007 08:29:00
I'm going to sleep for the next 14 hours!
31/08/2007 08:41:00
Amdy Faye gone to Rangers so that's one less to worry about!
31/08/2007 08:42:00
agreed mate, thats is certainly one less to worry about, any chance that diop might join him :)
31/08/2007 08:47:00
Not sure, hopefully someone else will take Johnson and we can keep Matty, GON although I think the rumours about Nuge at too strong and he will move on today.
31/08/2007 08:50:00
I am more worried about the stories circulating about Pedro and Villa. A player I feel we cannot afford to lose from our midfield has class, control and time - with a half decent shot too.
31/08/2007 08:51:00
True Eastney, I hope HR doesn't see Diop as replacement for Pedro
31/08/2007 08:53:00
ive not even given the mendes to villa much thought as i cannot see that one at all, they would have to offer something like £10m to get him... yep, they could afford that but 'arry wont let him go, i hope.
31/08/2007 08:55:00
sorry chix, i think you are going to be disappointed, i have trawled everywhere from newsnow to l'eqippe and corriella dela sport hey I can dream and the Braca papers. It seems that Gudjonsen is pondering a pompey offer, Eider is no better than Nugent, so i think this is another HR striker cock up, when he makes decisions like that its no wonder the rumours fly. They all say Nugent will be leaving for possibly £7m but one outlet says will sell him cheap and it will be undisclosed. Unless some superstar comes in i feel this is really bad news and shows a complete lack of future planning in the club by "wheeler dealer harry"). So we assume cover is coming but according to the papers it's not for Defoe whome is off to Manure as cover, perhapse they have a better class of bench seat oop noorth. Dej is apparently off to fulham for £1m, good luck to Dej. Finally it seems Glen Jonson will be returning on 3 1/2 year deal, personlly i feel the hand of Sol and TA here but i may be wrong, bit surprising this as GJ felt the club were not good enough for him last sojourn so i persume he is on contract to procure the toilet facilities of the new stadium.
