It wont be Anelka

It wont be Anelka

It was always a long shot, but we can now definitely cross another name off the list of strikers Pompey 'might' be looking to go for this summer, as Nicolas Anelka has signed a new contract with Bolton.

It had been looking like Anelka would leave Bolton, but after signing a new 4 year contract that puts an end to that one - for now anyway. As much as contracts do not really mean anything these days, it means he will not be going anywhere, well not in the next 24 hours!

The clock is ticking, the names - that the media want us to know about anyway - left in the hat are Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Eidur Gudjohnsen.

I most certainly would have taken Anelka, but to be honest I will not lose too much sleep over the fact that we cannot have him and I would still be happy and content with what we currently have in all honesty.

Anelka is without doubt a great player but he's never been anything other than a short term fix for any club he's played for. He's there for a season and then moves on. With that in mind i'm not too bothered that he won't be coming.

Well at least I'll sleep tonight. Didn't really want him although I expect that tomorrow is going to be an up and down day for Pompey Fans. Predictions Taylor and Stefanovic to go with maybe 1 more.

TBH in hind sight i am not surprised he has stayed, with the connections of Sven and half the stolen money stolen from thailand in the bank you have to assume they will become a force to be reckoned with this season

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
