Vincent Pericard goes down

Former Pompey striker Vincent Pericard was today sentenced to 4 months imprisonment after being found guilty of 'attempting to pervert the course of justice'.

Pericard, now with Stoke had claimed that his stepfather had been driving when his car was caught by cameras speeding at 103mph on the A38 near Plymouth - where he was on loan from Pompey at the time.

When it was later confirmed that his stepfather had not been in the country since 2003 he admitted to lying and will now serve his time, having been proven guilty. Where this leaves him and his footballing career, with or without Stoke I do not have a clue.

It is funny, not his speeding and/or imprisonment, but the fact that I was only talking about Pericard to someone on this very site the other day, saying how much I had liked him when he was with Pompey, but injuries ruined his career here, as they had so many other strikers in recent years including Rory Allen, Mark Burchill, Luke Nightingale and ultimately Svetoslav Todorov.

Another former Pompey striker, Lee Bradbury, is also in the news today. He is not in any kind of trouble, he is simply set for a loan move from Southend to Bournemouth to link up with his former Pompey coach Kevin Bond.

His carrear will be fine, i think other players have done worse, been inside and bounced back, but its not his first time, apparently he has been banned from driving more than once, and had numerous fines, so it was only a matter of time. Prat!

4 months porridge is a lot, there must be more to it than simply lying about the driver, especially when it was a stupid lie and easily dismissed. Shame though . . . . the prison's got a team though, Norman Stanley Fletcher used to manage them.

Hope he learns from it. A shame really.

Quite right Midge, Pennant has done OK. Met VP once on a train seemed a nice lad.

Just realised that as I met him on a train he was probably banned from driving at the time!!

Go Directly to jail and do not collect. Score 6 to escape.

Stoke have said pubicly that they will stick by him and after all the other players who have been banged up that seems to be norm (for driving offences anyway) I just can't help thinking that he is a 14 carat gold plonka - To say somebody else was driving is one thing but if you are gonna do that surely you'd make sure they could support your claim .... His father in law hadnt even been in the country - Pillock in my book ... Although Liked him as a player
