Will Harry stick until January?

Another potential striking target has slipped the net, so will this mean that Harry Redknapp will stick with the striking options he has, at least until January or will he still want more?

With Yakubu going to Everton - is he really worth £11m though? - another would be high profile target has gone, that only leaves Nicolas Anelka but my thinking is I cannot see Pompey paying the £11m, maybe more that would be required. Other than Anelka my favoured targets would be Leroy Lita or Jermain Defoe - but we are not going to get them, well not this month anyway are we?

Benjani, David Nugent, Kanu and John Utaka, with Niko Kranjcar also capable of filling in, or playing just off the front man does gives us enough of a threat to see us through until the new year, so rather than signing a striker for the sake of signing one should we not stick.

During the summer when I watched the England U21s in Holland I was really impressed with Lita, so should we be able to snap him up at some point in the next 12 months or so I would be more than happy. He seems set to leave Reading at some point, so if we are still in the market at that time hopefully we will follow up rumoured interest.

Although he is not to everyone's liking he is most definitely the sort of goalscorer Pompey would like, so by waiting until January Defoe could still become a real possibility. So then depending on how much he is playing - for club and country - as well as how well both Pompey and Spurs are doing you never know.

If the transfer window had to close today, so long as we kept the likes of Matty Taylor and Gary O'Neil - who Redknapp has again said are staying - then I would be happy with what we have.

How do we feel fellas, would you settle for what we currently have, until at least January - or do you want more?

Maybe another striker? If in January Nugent is injured does that mean we will have no strikers?

No, we'll have Benji as Zimbabwe won't qualify for the African nations Cup

Maybe another striker? If in January Nugent is injured does that mean we will have no strikers because of the african nations. Unless he brings a body in at the start of the transfer window? If we were unable to get defoe, anelka etc then i would like to see Lita at the club. I think the boy can score goals in the premiership.

i would almost certainly want a striker to arrive in january - even if he had to come in on loan - but until then, like i say i am happy to stick as anelka, lita or defoe are the only names that i would want tbh, but i cannot see any of them signing - not until at least jan anyway...

Whatever, whatever. When January comes there is always a lot of action, top, middle or bottom. Change will happen.

Stick with what we have got. Unless can get someone with real quality, I agree January will be hard but with Benji and Nugent we will be alright for a few weeks at least. Agree that Defoe will be looking for an out in January.

Like the idea of Defoe in January but who will be the Spurs manager then? Change of manager would mean change of formation selection and possibly JD will get his chance.

who will be in charge at spurs then is a good point mate, that will prob decide what he does. if it is still jol i am not sure he will be playing as much as he would like, so as said if we are doing well and are getting players called up for england regularly i dont think he would be so quick to say no...

Harry won't stick, i expect there will probably be 3 more before the window closes. probably a striker, and at least 1 midfielder.

I agree HR will be making every effort to bring in more cover to prevent the 'bare bones' excuses later in the season. Who? I have a feeling they are trying very hard for Anelka but I am probably wrong.

I'm with SteveC, I reckon someone is in the pipeline, but won't appear until the last minute

tbh mate i was certain that we would get defoe this summer - i had given up on this, but thought january could be the time. however if any of the recent talk is true it looks like jol might want him out, so he could arrive yet...

He might stick or he might twist, but the question remains will he snap !!

As long as he dont 'cheat' and end up being a feature of a BBC documentary - That would be nothing to 'brag' about.

we will sign a random black player playing in france .... either that or the entire rennes team! :)

At least three in before the window closes and maybe one or two more out, Dejan and one more maybe in a swap deal etc. We need a creative goalscoring midfielder and Harry will snatch one from Spain or France.

depending on who the players are - yep, i would sacrifice 2 going...
