Yak finally on the move?

It is being reported that Yakubu has been left out of the Boro squad for the weekend match with Fulham - which will surely mean that he is leaving the Riverside?

Harry Redknapp has been a long-term admirer of the Yak and has been wanting to re-sign for some time, but has openly admitted his reluctant to pay the money that Boro are said to be asking.

I would have him back but my thinking is that as much as he is a top class striker and has improved since he left Fratton I do not think that he has improved enough to warrant the sort of price Boro reportedly wanted from us, so I think it is fair enough that Pompey will not pay it.

After completing the signing of former Pompey loanee Manuel Fernandes, Everton are said to be closing in on Yakubu for a fee of around £11m, which would see them beat Pompey and West Ham to his signature.

If he has indeed been left out of the Boro squad this weekend then he will be moving on, which could be concluded by the end of the weekend - but unless Redknapp has a change of heart over the fee then it will not be back to Pompey.

Yes, sounds like he is off to Everton. Shame really a good striker and one that we should never have let go. I hope our preferred choice is not Anelka, too grumpy for me. If Matty T is off to Spurs which I think is more likely now then it has to be him plus some cash (£3M) for Defoe. Otherwise, could still be Kanoute!

Have just been told, David James and Sol both in England squad. 2 Pompey Players, Yahooooo
Midge
not at £17m tho - that is kanoute's release amount in his new contract isnt it mate... i really want us to keep hold of matty taylor - altho if we could get defoe in exchange then i think i would begrudingly let him go. i still think we really need to keep him tho, but 'arry seems set on letting him go for some reason?
pompeyrug
where did you hear that? that is indeed great news mate - only 1 hr and 40 minutes until an official annoucement is made.
pompeyrug
Says who? i dont see anywhere where it says Harry wants to let him go? for 3 years now he has been touted as if he is going to Spurs, and 3 times Harry has denied, and even given him a new contract last year, to keep him here? so although i have a gut feeling he may well go this time, i hope he doesnt, but to say Harry seems set on letting him go, is utter *****e.
Midge
It was on Sky. so i dont know why its been announced already? I'm sat here now, and its was on about 30 minutes ago
Midge
the fact that he seems content to play other out of position or in a lesser position than their better one ahead of him, has not started him this seson when its been crying out for him to start and has - from what i am told - possibly been offering around as makeweights in deals, as he was said to have lua, which made him go - makes me think that 'arry is happy to let him go... i hope its not true, but i fear the worst here mate?
pompeyrug
OK respect that reply, i just thought for a minute that someone had said somehwhere that Harry had said etc etc. So I opologise if thet previews reply appeared rude, as it wasnt meant in that manner (Just when i read it back after). And respect your thinking. I feel the same if i'm totally honest, but also hope he stays. trouble is, all players DO have a price, and the offer is higher than that price, then the club will think of letting him go i suppose.
Midge
Lets see if he suddenly gets linked to Boro this afternoon then, as Yak is not playing for Boro tomorrow lol. After all O'Neil has been linked with boro, why not Matty :-)
Midge
no need to opologise mate, no offence taken at all... yep, all players do have a price and as i say i would reluctantly let matty go to spurs but only if we get defoe as part of any deal.
pompeyrug
well fellas, if you ant something really interesting that i couldnt beleive when i saw click here...
pompeyrug
this is - to quote lysi - 'random' and off topic but if you have not already made your predictions in the Pompey predictions league for the Bolton match do it by clicking here before kick off tomorrow.

Midge my mates in media street have been telling me that Matty is getting fed uop with Harry hawking him around, matty ( quite rightly in my opinion feels that his loyalty to the club is not being reciprocated. He does not get on with HR, you me and everyone else knows it, but we really need him to stay i think you would agree.
russellm
given that benji is scoring i wouldnt mind if le sulk came here, we make it a "payement terms" contract and could sod him off in january if he doesnt perform.
russellm
'arry is making a big mistake - as much as i love the fella i will be pretty *****ed if he forces matty out tbh, same goes for o'neil...
pompeyrug
Taylor & ONeil are Pompeys versions of Carragher, Solksjer, Nolan etc.. Not superstars but above average prem players we are loved but the fans, will always give 110% and are loyal to the cause. We can't do without either of then - Harry needs to wake up to this fact - As exciting as Muntari, Nugent, Utaka promise to be they are yet unproven in terms of loyality and commitment whereas GON & Matty have it oozing out of them evertime they pull on a Pompey shirt
Chix
I'd prefer Yak over Anelka. Thouigh I doubt if either will come.
