Pompey 'after' Nolberto Solano?

Pompey 'after' Nolberto Solano?

Pompey have been linked with many players, many of which will have been nothing more than paper talk, but one of the most recent names is Nolberto Solano.

It had been claimed that the Peruvian wished to move to a club in the south for family reasons, with Pompey said to be interested, along with yep you guessed it West Ham. But it is now also claimed that he is 'mulling' over a move to Pompey.

I like Solano, he has been a very good footballer in the years he has been in England but my thinking is is he really any better than the right sided players we currently have?

In the main stays of that right hand side we have John Utaka, who seems to be excelling out on the right, along with Gary O'Neil, although maybe not as affective on the right will still do a great job.

Yep, Solano would offer that undoubted natural width and could also play at right back if needed but the fella is 32 so how many more years would he have in him? As said he is a good footballer, actually a classy footballer, but I would not really see this as a move forward by us to be honest. It is also my belief that other areas of the team are more in need of strengthening.

From a Newcastle fan - he'd be a great signing for you and has been a fantastic servant to the club. Up there with Pavel and Albert as our favourite foreign player.

I think he's a great player, it all depends on whether he's expecting a starting spot. If he's happy to fight for a place and will accept a 'short' ish contract, he would be worth having. Good free kicks, eh?

Gents i was digging around during my disagreement with carpet and it seems they are taking it seriously reet ooop noorth mon, theyre reet ganin cany ooverim. LBH Harry has been after him for years and they have refudsed to sell, so the fact that the barcodes are have finally decided to let him go probably means he is past his best

Squad cover at best, another to add to the Djimi, Herman, Kanu camp and lets face it GON is not going play in the middle this year -I think well have Sully and Pedro there with Matty on the left - Davis seems to be favorite cover in the middle too so with Utaka and GON on the right Nobby would only be cover at best... but if he's cheap and cheerful why not... as Et_tu says good free kicks

Match highlights - Hartlepool 0-2 Pompey

The slim chances of a top 3 finish ended, despite a win at Hartlepool. Wins for Accrington, Oxford and Bristol Rovers meant Pompey cannot finish higher than our current 5th place.
