Benjani hungry for more goals

After scoring his second goal in as many matches this season Benjani has told the Pompey Site about his aspirations for the season 'I need to get to double figures and work even harder. We've got a lot of good strikers at this club, so I need to be scoring to keep my place.

'I need to score more. All our strikers here are working to get into double figures.

'I can try to get into goal scoring positions now because we have so much quality at the club. You know if you go for the ball there is going to be cover behind'.

Despite all his hard work and effort Benjani could only manage 6 goals in the Premiership last season, but with a couple in as many games at the start of this season there should be no reason why he should not go onto get at least 10 goals.

I am not quite sure that his work rate can possibly be upped though, as he is probably the hardest working forward around, even though he thinks it could.

My thinking is that his effort for the team alone makes him almost priceless, but I have always had faith that with the right players around him - as well as alongside him - he would score goals and all being well this will continue as he has started off.

He is not only looking like the forward he always was, but is also starting to look like a very threatening striker too!

was it you mate that said something about donating money to cancer research last season? i remember some conversation about some kind of wager, which would be better suited going to charity.

I've been trying to find my comment to verify exactly what i said but i believe i said that if Benjani didn't get 15 goals this season i'd give a tenner to Cancer research and if he did you all could. or something similar

im not trying to worm out of anything but i remember seeing it - but didnt have much input on the site at the time, however i would not have gone against your 15 goals prediction mate as im a big fan of benji's.
