Muntari given warning by Redknapp

Harry Redknapp has told the Pompey Site that Sulley Muntari will have to be move careful in future with some of his challenges, 'Muntari is stretching into challenges and he's got to be careful.

'His first booking was for an innocuous foul on Ronaldo but he should have been a bit more careful with the second one'.

It was not the way Muntari, Redknapp or the 20,000 plus fans would have wanted him to mark his Fratton debut was it, but what can you do. He was a little unfortunate, but he got what he had to get really.

I really like his hunger and determination, along with his willingness to chase everything day all day long but sometimes you just have to think hang on, lets leave this one be.

The first booking is openly regarded as 'one for the team' and although the second foul was not really with any malice or in an area of the field that was posing any threat to Pompey he left the ref with little choice but to sent him off.

I still want to see this hunger and bite that he shows, but his reputation will keep going before him if he does not rein it in a little.

The Pompey site says that he will be suspended against Bolton on Saturday, which is good news to me as my thinking was it would be the Chelsea match that he would miss out on. As much as I would like him to have faced Bolton I would rather he missed that more than Chelsea.

personally i thought he did a good job in midfield, but i was surprised how far behind prem pace he is. I agree it is better that he misses the Bolton game although with the other injuries i think we will be hearing HR and his bare bones speach,

I'm still not convinced about Muntari's worth to the team. Taylor has been left out twice now to accommodate The Munter and I don't think that is a good swap. At the moment taylor is far more important. In my defence, it's hard to judge as I missed the Derby game and it's really hard to look good against Man Ure, so the jury's (my jury) out for a while longer. Benji's looking bloomin' good though, eh?

I thought was a little unlucky second challenge was unwise but he did get the ball first. Remember too that it came at the end of a spell of Pompey pressuring their defenders and trying to catch them in possession partly generated by the crowd.

Let's give him a chance. It's going to take him a while to adjust. You've got to like the passion he brings to the game and although his second card was a bit dumb, he looked as if we was getting carried away with the action rather than being deliberately stupid and reckless (he'd make a terrific ice hockey player with that attitude !).

muntari sholdnt be played wide left - thats the easy solution. He is an extremly good passer of the ball - and split open the derby and man u defences with some lovely passes, however on the left, he doesnt cover back. basicly, he is being played out of position. When taylor came on, he was much improved in the middle, and he was able to distribut the ball much better to both sides of the field. he will be good, just give him time.

I dont understand him, i recently read a piece where he said he would calm down!

matty has to be played on the left - but as i said somewhere else im concerned by the fact that 'arry is putting others, even if it means them being out of position out on the left instead of him... mantari is much more valuable in the middle, i cannot see why 'arry wont pick both? ive liked what ive seen from muntari so far, but he does need to calm it just a touch.

The prem pace is something else, as said already, give him some time. I've been bleating about Matty wide left midfield for ages &when he is back Sulley left centre midfield.

erm, i agree with pompeycarpet
