Bolton is the game for Nugent

David Nugent could open his account against United, but Bolton on Saturday is more likely! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from pentonpompey's poll are thoughts I half and half share.

This seasons first match at Fratton takes place tonight with United the visitors; although a fair few think that Nugent could open his competitive account for Pompey tonight the match with Bolton on Saturday is more heavily favoured, which is understandable given our opposition in both games.

My own thinking and belief is that he will score tonight, but even if he does not, so long as he gives a good account for himself and helps others to do so I will be more than happy. If the goal does not come tonight I am more than confident that it will against Bolton on Saturday.

As with the recent first goalscorer of the season poll - as nice as it would be to see him score tonight I would not mind who scores so long as we win.

What the poll asked - When do you think David Nugent will score his first league goal?

How you voted - v Bolton 41%, v Man Utd 35%, Later 12%, v Reading 4%, v Chelsea 3%, v Arsenal 2%, v Blackburn 2%, v Liverpool 1%

Current Poll - Most have gone into this season with Pompey full of optimism, with expectation levels very high in some instances, higher than ever before.

Games are won or lost on any given day, but a season is not decided until 38 matches have been played. Once they have where are Pompey expected to finish, this is what Et_tu_Pompeii wants to know - 'what league position will Pompey most likely achieve this season?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

Will be great for Nugget to get off the mark as goals breed confidence. But as long as we are scoring goals doea it matter who is scoring. HR believes that Nugget links play well and if he is doing that then fine.
