Tevez starts against Pompey - and?

Carlos Tevez is set to make his United debut against Pompey at Fratton tomorrow night - and, am I bothered! So what, why should we be more worried about this than we would have before?

Yep he is a great footballer, who I would have in the Pompey side in a second, but United have another 10 outfield players that can and will cause Pompey problems tomorrow night. If it had not have been Tevez we faced it would have been Wayne Rooney - unlikely, but maybe both - but at this point in time I know who I would rather we faced - Tevez.

My understanding is that United did not really want to have to play him, but injuries have forced their hand.

I am not for one second suggesting that he will not cause us problems, as he will, but he only signed for United last week after all the palaver surrounding his signing, so he has had no pre season, or little time to get to know his team mates. He did play in the Copa America, which should have kept his fitness levels up but this is a different animal to the Premiership and the pressure of playing for United.

Yep, he will be great for United and will help them win god only knows how many trophies but why should we worry too much about facing him? He is only one player, we should worry about facing them all, but why not also look at the weaknesses in their side, which they do have…

We kept Rooney quiet last season, why should we not do the same to Tevez tomorrow?

Don't get me wrong, I would clearly prefer him not to play but if we let the hype surrounding 'his United debut' get in the way, mind games will mean we will lose before we even play. Lets remember the most important thing - United do not like coming to Fratton Park, this will not change just because they have Tevez in their side!

ERE' ERE' I am more worried about the fitness of Sol and Pedro and who Manure are turning out! True though United dislike coming to Fratton and tomorrow should be great atmosphere with roof of Milton End to increase noise of visitors we will have to crank up the noise even more than usual. Get there early though everyone the new ticket/turnstile system will cause major delays!!

they better watch out for Tak! hes gonna rip em up!
CharlieChimes
Hopefully he'll start like seaon and not score until December

I meant last season!

yep, altho tbh he can start on saturday if he wants - just not tomorrow :) if we defend like we can then we will be able to keep him, the winker and all the others quiet and the quieter we keep them, the more frustrated they will become and the more this will play into our hands...

Your last comment, PR, needed to finish with 'diabolical laughter'.

Need to tighten up defensively, prefer Taylor left mid & Sulley left centre mid.
storagematt
need an experienced Sol to be fit and the quality of pedro, Linvoy, if available is not match sharp

i agree with the article rug, as we noted we are in gtreat danger of frightening ourselves out of 3 points. I also think our players will have a point to prove to us as much as Minger Macclown

Rooney's a better player than Tevez so I'm glad Tevez's playing. Sorry, but I'm not in the 'Tevez is god's gift to football' club.

teves - who? sounds argintinian, i looked up a picture, what an orgre, but he came from the brazil to west ham, isnt west ham to man u a big step for someone who didnt score till december? What? it was an illegal transfer that took him to westham? surely this cant be the same playor that man u fans think will score 35 million goals this season? surely 2 ogres is better than 1, but still, i would prefer ronaldo in my team. ok, hes a good playor, but takes ages to settle in, isnt match fit, and anyway, they have better. fully agree with the title.

god, where to you sit? behind the goal, opr on the halfway line, you are so...well, i guess it must get lonely...

your right about tevez, he needs time to settle in and i dont expect him to become rooney's quality straight away, but with a possible formation fo vds, wes, rio, vida, evra, ronnie, carrick, scholes, nani, giggs as well as tevez, i think there are other players you need to worry about, especially nani and evra because they have looked very bright in pre-season.
united4life
your right. you have plenty of playors that we can worry about. to some extent, teves is included. However, when anyone plays the currnet champions, they can expect this - its just a fact, so when yo say you have teves in your side now, the only reasonable response, which can pay full respect to your team, is "...so?"
