Lomana LuaLua wants to leave?

With the season opener with Derby just over 24 hours away the BBC are claiming that Harry Redknapp has said that he believes Lomana LuaLua want to leave Pompey?

Redknapp is quoted as telling BBC Radio Solent 'I think Lua feels he would like a change.

'Maybe he would like to go and play abroad somewhere. At the moment though, that could or could not happen, we will have to wait and see'.

Although the thought of him leaving over the summer has crossed my mind several times, at this particular moment I have to admit this news have come as quite a shock to me. And for something like this to come out in such the way that it has, at the time it has, has baffled me.

LuaLua was starting to look as though he was enjoying himself again and looked willing to fight for a place in the team. Some had previously said that maybe this new found form was to impress others, rather than to be for Pompey's benefit this season - maybe this could be the case after all?

He is still under contract, so even if he does want to leave - which might not be true anyway - unless it is in Pompey's interests to see this then it will not happen will it.

I have not heard these quotes at all myself - has anyone else?

I like him and he is a really good player, but i think we all said in the past if you want to go then you should go, even if you are a big part of the team. He would always be in the team for me, but its down to attitude, committment and wanting to sweat blood for the cause, if you dont want that then move on.

I greeted this with a lot more seriousness that would've done before pre-season. LL scored, what 6 or 7 goals in July? Then again, pre-season is just target practice.

i was stunned when i saw this ive got tbh... i really want him to stay now - not that i was desperate for him to leave before mind - but at the same time though if he is not willing to fight for a place in the team then he is not worth having around is he? so agree with you Owenspompey, if he does not want to be here he should go. maybe it will be benji and nugent starting tomorrow afterall!

I've always admired the man, and feel that a lot of Off the Pitch dirt, was causing his mind to be else where, what with the baby dieing, the girlfriend beating him and then getting him arrested for beating her etc etc. then the silly little girls who said Lua Lua was hanging around the clubs picking up young girls, wvwn when he wasnt in the country etc etc... So when he started the pre-season in such good form i was confident this would be his season. If he now wants to move on, and maybe because he doesnt want all the off pitch crap again, it will be a shame, as i feel we are going to miss out on the best of Lua Lua. If he really wants/needs to go, then i agree he should be a llowed to, but i will be happy if he stays.

The tone of HR last night suggested that he may be prepared to let several players go although Lua was the only player mentioned by name. Press this morning digging up Matt to Spurs for 8million. Would not like to see either go BUT we have to move on and HR is the manager we have to trust his judgment.

there is more talk of o'neil plus cash being offloaded to boro aswell today isnt there with yak coming back... i dont want lua to go, it is looking like he is getting back to his best, but really do not want matty to leave, but he doesnt get on with 'arry that well does he? tbh tho if spurs would let us have defoe then as much as i do think we need to keep taylor it would soften the blow a heck of alot for me.

Just when I was thinking that Lua might be in for a good season-having previously felt for his sake a move to spain could be a good move for a young man who has his share of brown stuff-see midges comments above- this comes out. Iwould prefer him to stay, definately Taylor & GO'N to stay. But with another winger on their way with the spider man the writing is on the wall. Yak...hmm...I am not convinced that he is an answer to getting goals..pens yes.but not that many goals on a regular basis. He misses so many chances, then goes AWOL for weeks on end. Defoe is the only Answer.....PLEASE NOT MIDO FOR TAYLOR..

im going to have horrible thoughts of pompey signing mido running through my head for the rest of the day now graham... i would be well put out if 'arry decided to accept him in place of taylor! spurs have good players, but i cannot really think of any real 'fringe' players that they have that we would want that would improve our side?

We've seen all these reports before, the only thing we can be sure of is nothings certain till it's happened. Personally i'd like Lua to stay he's a player on his day thats worth the admission money on his own. He has the ability to turn a game on it's head and he seems to be in good form at the moment. If only he wasn't so opposed to playing wide he could multiply his chances of starting games.

It appears then that he is off to Greece, has anyone heard anymore about this? Surely there is someone coming in to replace him if this is going to happen? If we are taking 2.8 million then Harry must want him out.

LL recent form has been encouraging, but is it shop window stuff. Sometimes like us all we need a change to break the rut. If he does go, he will be rembered for the 4-1 scum bashing & the goal that kept us up. Not keen on Matty or GON going. We need the English grit which at times is irreplaceable.

Surely if he was going he would have gone now, so as not to disrupt the preperation for the game tomorrow. A move to Greece would mean Champions League football, but would it really advance his career or would he just be running away. Stop here Lomana and prove your doubters wrong, get us 15 goals and then move next season with your reputation intact.

lua can go on a number of conditions: A-we get another good goal scoring striker. B-we get plenty of money. when he is on form, he can change a match, and he looks like he is on form at the moment. C-if he REALLY wants to go, then we cant stop him, but PLEASE GET US ANOTHER STRIKER IF HE DOES!!!!

He's a terrific player and a personal favourite, but if he truly wants to go elsewhere, lets trade him to Sevilla and get Kanoute back in some sort of exchange.

tbh and with respect to the greek lge i reckon a move over to greece is a waste of his talent... yep, it makes for an easier life and less intrusion on his private life etc but his talent is wasted.

Lua Lua is a very talented footballer but at times I think he's childish. He is very self focussed to a point that others are not really considered. He is a bit of a loner and doesn't take well to discipline or being substituted. He is not a very happy natured person is he. Or am I wrong in my assessment. All this pre-season hype has been put on display for one reason and one reason only - Who wants to buy me. That said it could raise the asking price. My only fears surround 1.adequate replacement 2.will others follow should we make a bad start and 3.another Prem side could end up with him and help kick us in the teeth. Perhaps if we get a good game out of him at Derby (with even more exposure) we can add another million to his tag.

nope, i think it is a fair and just assesment pompeygray. he will be off to greece in the next few days. we will have to sign another striker now - im getting fearful that we may well see o'neil go by the end of the month aswell you know fellas, as i reckon 'arry will up the ante to get the yak back? i had been tempted to go with lua pompey4me, but always worried about his ability to play week in week out - and how he might react if he didnt play, so out of the 2 i would have gone benji, like i did last year...

Kranjcars injury should buy Taylor some more time, if the rumour holds any weight, I personally feel its paper talk again, but Lua leaving has heightened the need for another striker, Redknapp must have someone on the brink, or all those close season midfield signings are going to have no-one up front to aim at

- with everything happening very quietly inside the club at the moment, its hard to see whats happening, wo we are talking too, and who we could sign. I am hoping that if hary is prepared to let lualua leave, then he is close to getting someone else - and i also hope that we arn't close to letting anyone else leave, one talented playor is enough.

the days when we knew what were going on with this club are gone - this is both a good and bad thing - if the club want something known it will be, if not it wont anymore, which is all part of the more 'professional appraoch'... tbh fellas 'arry MUST have someone lined up or no matter how lua wants to go there is noway 'arry would let him go would he? spider-man is getting closer to arriving i believe, but he would not be the solution as he isnt a striker. 'arry will have someone to fill that no.9 shirt by the end of the month we can be sure on that.

ive always been keen on defoe and if 'arry hangs fire until jan i think we could get him - he (defoe) will want to see how things are before he moves on. i would take yak too but tbh would still prefer defoe out of the 2.

so long as the joint-ownership issues arent a problem - as storrie claims - then im quite excited about having spider-man here, he sounds like quite a character that would be loved particularly if he does wear his mask if/when he scores!

LuaLua did not ask to leave, i'm surprised we all have such short memories, we had this harry said player wants to leave on at least 5 occaisions now, and once again my mate in media street is saying the HR is lying, it his way of keeping the fans of him when he is not confident about how popular the decision will be. Just remember Harry is a Liar, and accept it or dont.

russ i dont know what is true or not - tbh too many players seem to say they didnt really want to go even when 'arry says they did so i could see that being ture, but with these 2 (lua and 'arry) i really do think it was 6 of one and half a dozen of the other...
