Lomana LuaLua wants to leave?

Lomana LuaLua wants to leave?

With the season opener with Derby just over 24 hours away the BBC are claiming that Harry Redknapp has said that he believes Lomana LuaLua want to leave Pompey?

Redknapp is quoted as telling BBC Radio Solent 'I think Lua feels he would like a change.

'Maybe he would like to go and play abroad somewhere. At the moment though, that could or could not happen, we will have to wait and see'.

Although the thought of him leaving over the summer has crossed my mind several times, at this particular moment I have to admit this news have come as quite a shock to me. And for something like this to come out in such the way that it has, at the time it has, has baffled me.

LuaLua was starting to look as though he was enjoying himself again and looked willing to fight for a place in the team. Some had previously said that maybe this new found form was to impress others, rather than to be for Pompey's benefit this season - maybe this could be the case after all?

He is still under contract, so even if he does want to leave - which might not be true anyway - unless it is in Pompey's interests to see this then it will not happen will it.

I have not heard these quotes at all myself - has anyone else?

I like him and he is a really good player, but i think we all said in the past if you want to go then you should go, even if you are a big part of the team. He would always be in the team for me, but its down to attitude, committment and wanting to sweat blood for the cause, if you dont want that then move on.

I greeted this with a lot more seriousness that would've done before pre-season. LL scored, what 6 or 7 goals in July? Then again, pre-season is just target practice.

i was stunned when i saw this ive got tbh... i really want him to stay now - not that i was desperate for him to leave before mind - but at the same time though if he is not willing to fight for a place in the team then he is not worth having around is he? so agree with you Owenspompey, if he does not want to be here he should go. maybe it will be benji and nugent starting tomorrow afterall!

I've always admired the man, and feel that a lot of Off the Pitch dirt, was causing his mind to be else where, what with the baby dieing, the girlfriend beating him and then getting him arrested for beating her etc etc. then the silly little girls who said Lua Lua was hanging around the clubs picking up young girls, wvwn when he wasnt in the country etc etc... So when he started the pre-season in such good form i was confident this would be his season. If he now wants to move on, and maybe because he doesnt want all the off pitch crap again, it will be a shame, as i feel we are going to miss out on the best of Lua Lua. If he really wants/needs to go, then i agree he should be a llowed to, but i will be happy if he stays.

The tone of HR last night suggested that he may be prepared to let several players go although Lua was the only player mentioned by name. Press this morning digging up Matt to Spurs for £8million. Would not like to see either go BUT we have to move on and HR is the manager we have to trust his judgment.

there is more talk of o'neil plus cash being offloaded to boro aswell today isnt there with yak coming back... i dont want lua to go, it is looking like he is getting back to his best, but really do not want matty to leave, but he doesnt get on with 'arry that well does he? tbh tho if spurs would let us have defoe then as much as i do think we need to keep taylor it would soften the blow a heck of alot for me.

Just when I was thinking that Lua might be in for a good season-having previously felt for his sake a move to spain could be a good move for a young man who has his share of brown stuff-see midges comments above- this comes out. Iwould prefer him to stay, definately Taylor & GO'N to stay. But with another winger on their way with the spider man the writing is on the wall. Yak...hmm...I am not convinced that he is an answer to getting goals..pens yes.but not that many goals on a regular basis. He misses so many chances, then goes AWOL for weeks on end. Defoe is the only Answer.....PLEASE NOT MIDO FOR TAYLOR..

im going to have horrible thoughts of pompey signing mido running through my head for the rest of the day now graham... i would be well put out if 'arry decided to accept him in place of taylor! spurs have good players, but i cannot really think of any real 'fringe' players that they have that we would want that would improve our side?

We've seen all these reports before, the only thing we can be sure of is nothings certain till it's happened. Personally i'd like Lua to stay he's a player on his day thats worth the admission money on his own. He has the ability to turn a game on it's head and he seems to be in good form at the moment. If only he wasn't so opposed to playing wide he could multiply his chances of starting games.

It appears then that he is off to Greece, has anyone heard anymore about this? Surely there is someone coming in to replace him if this is going to happen? If we are taking 2.8 million then Harry must want him out.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
