Kanu finally signs his contract!

Kanu finally signs his contract!

Kanu has finally signed a new contract with Pompey!

It is 100% official, it cannot be questioned or doubted as it has come from the most official of places - the Pompey site.

I had lost patience long ago, but my belief has always been I simply wanted what was best for Pompey, if that meant him staying so be it - and so it has proved.

He finally signed his new contract today that will see him stay at Fratton for at least one more season. Then depending on him reaching the stipulated amount of games, which you would expect him to, during 2007/08 he will then get a further year.

He has already said that he always wanted to stay, as he has again since signing - which despite everything does appear to be the case, particularly his helping John Utaka come to Pompey with the things he told him - and has targeted bettering the 12 goals he scored last season.

The vast majority of his games will probably come from the bench, which is where I believe he can be very effective.

Does Kanu's re-arrival mean that Harry Redknapp will now abandon his plans to sign another striker, or will he get another as well - my thinking is that we might, but it could be that we will make do with what we have until January?

Is he still playing for Nigeria? Is this going to be another player we'll lose then? I'd be happier with him signing if I knew he wasn't going to disappear next year for several weeks. And does anyone know what his fitness levels are like? I suspect they'll be poor and he's out of match practice. It didn't affect his when he joined last year but he certainly suffered for it later in the season.

I sccept what he did last year for us, but really this did drag on too long.

Far far too long.....say just about long enough for Kanu to miss ALL of pre-season and get to the start of the season only fit enough to be a 'super-sub'....

yep Stevec you are right he has said that, also Kanu confirmed that he had beeen training, finally Kanu had no pre season training last year and scored three in three.the issue is that he will be off for the ANC and he is still not the deadly Yak, Defoe, Martins striker we all agree we need.

At least he is here for another season and he can win us all around again if he can improve on his 12 goals last year. If he could get up to 20 that would make such a difference to us, and hopefully his experience will help David Nugent and John Utaka settle in at the club.

At last the saga is over! Glad he has signed but can't see him scoring more than last season. Not so happy that again O'Neil is muted to be leaving!! This must not happen!

May have something to prove, as always time will tell. The clause works well for both. No doubt HR will have him on 19 games with a few weeks to go!!!

an excellent squad playor (although he wont be happy at being just a squad playor) he could get some nice goals off the bench. His fitness shouldnt be too bad either - if he is mostly used as a sub, that will be totally diferent from him mostly starting last season - and anyway, if harry says hes fit, he is.

Big Ben returns!

There's no doubting how important Davies is to us, we most definitely missed the former Sheffield United man against Orient but Cook's confirmed he'll start against Bristol Rovers.
