In the wake of Jamie Carragher's retirement from International football, Steve McClaren has hinted at a recall for Sol for the friendly, ' You can't close the door on anyone in this job, and would be foolish to do so on either Sol or David' said the befuddled one.
This comes as shock to most Pompey fans who thought McClaren thought England finished at Guildford.
Great news for both our senior statesman, and maybe a first Pompey England International since Mark Hateley in '84?

If I were Jamo or Sol I'd be tempted to tell that arse to **** off. Only tempted mind, The reality is that an England place would be excellent - even I'd accept one if arsed (asked?) You know, I honestly believe that I could do the England job as good as this clown. With coaching help, how hard could it be. He's a failure so living up to him is fairly easy.

ive got to admit that not even the hint that sol could come back in had much entered my head recently until now - he will look an even bigger tit than he alredy is if he recalls both sol and jamo! and if he does they both deserve it, certainly jamo who is so good i cannot believe that i was ever even slightly against his signing - which i will be honest i was alittle at first... what a boost this would be for pompey if we could see 2 players - maybe more? - called up for england!

It would be good for the two of them but what effect would it have on Pompey, I wonder? As a profile raising exercise for the club it's brilliant but would there be a cost?

im not so sure that it wont happen tbh graham... yep, it would be go pr - not pompeyrug pr tho! - for spineless steve, which god knows he needs but my thinking is it will only help pompey even more... it will show people like defoe that playing for pompey wont mean you cannot play for enlgand... if nugent starts well this season then he has ever chance of being in aswell, i dont expect this but you never know - and lets not count out matty taylor! he would have played at the end of last season if he wasnt injured. so if he starts well this season, you never know... this is going to be a big season for pompey and a season that i think will see us have a few england internationals after 20 plus yrs of being in the wilderness...

is the squad being selected just for the germany friendly or also for the euro qualifyers? if it is just the friendly then tbh i think it could be possible if nugent and matty impress 'if' he comes to fratton as he has promised, but he promised this before... nugent would be more likely over matty tho if it is for the friendly and the euro games...

wow, the thought of no england playors for 20 years, then 4 at once... it aint gonig to happen, i cant beleive it, not with stevei in charge...has someone told him (at last) that he is actualy managing england, and can pick ANY english playor, rather than being on a budget of 60million as in the fantasy football? oh, how i would love it if we could have 4 (even 5, with GO'N in his top 50 at least) playing for england...they could turn it into a pompey re-union...wow, im getting ahead of myself...and i havnt even thought of sean davis...

if sol and jamo get the recall, providing they continue to perform for pompey this season - as they will - it will be hard for them to be left out, that will make 2 in... if matty taylor and nugent in particular perform cinsistently then they will have a shot, so i still think the thought of 2, 3 or 4 pompey players in the england squad isnt beyond the realms of possibility.

Of course, he may just be coming down to monitor some of Krancjar's moves in advance of the Croatia game and now that Niko's injured, won't show up at all. There's just no way this FA boot boy a-- clown would ever put 4 Pompey boys in his squad at the same time.
