Gutierrez 'tempted' with Pompey move

Jonas Gutierrez was linked with Pompey towards the end of last week, but Real Mallorca insisted they wanted to keep hold of him - and he said he would stay, as he still will if needed.

Now the Argentine winger, better known is Spain as 'spider-man' has claimed in the Spanish press that a move for him has been made by Pompey 'the offer has arrived and now I am studying this subject.

'If it was positive for all parties we would close the accord, because footballers have short careers and it is important to make the right decisions.

'But if the transfer is not possible I would stay in Mallorca without problems because I am a professional'.

He sounds like a colourful character and Harry Redknapp is after another winger, but with it pointed out during the week, is another left sided player really be a priority - would another striker not be a higher priority?

Something that really concerns me though is the fact that he is co-owned by Real Mallorca and Argentine club Velez Sarsfield - these split ownership issues can be complicated, difficult and even suspect affairs.

i dont really think we need him. we have plnty of left sided playors at the moment, and he doesnt sound like he scored to many goals. The only thing about this, that i read somewhere, was thst it could be because matty taylor could be leaving? i very much doubt this, as he has only recently got his new deal, so i think that it could be more hope on his (guti's) part than anything else.

i think you are right mate - more that he wants the move than pompey want him... i bet he will sign next week now ive said this! agree that i dont think we need him, dont like the idea of the joint ownership things either - these can be merky waters cant they...
pompeyrug
join ownership=trouble - just look at the so called "not" joint ownership of teves, and where that has got too...now imagine if he WAS joint owned :)
pompeycarpet
Don't care about the joint ownership thing or even whether he's any good. As far as I'm concerned, anybody who can play a whole match with a spiderman mask down his Y fronts, whipping it out for the crowd from time to time is worth having! It will also give the press a field day: Gutierrez crawling down the wing, Gutierrez putting the frighteners on the defenders, spinning his silky skills, the defence were so stationary it looked like they were standing on chairs. Hmmm, on second thoughts, it's probably best if we don't buy him.

Leave him Harry, i think we can all smell problems here, there must be better and easier options than this surely. We must be looking at other players especially as we have offloaded some of the dead wood.

i love the idea of the entertainment value of seeing him whip out the mask and keeping the crowd happy but im with you mate - as i have said previously - the joint ownership issues are very bad news to me and are not something we want to get involved with...
pompeyrug
Dont need him spend the money else where.....I Think Lua Lua is going to stay and do well and Krunchie could cover up front during ANC so i dont see us being desperate
plymouth graham
If he plays for Argentina he can't be that bad, can he . . .?
Et_tu_Pompeii
It is just he appears to offer the same option as we already have, and this joint ownership thing stinks, leave him Harry.
Owenspompey
my concern is that fior a striker he scored 5 goals in 52 games, that worse then even Benji, but he would bring speed and competition for that wing opposite side to utaka. The ownership thing i simple it gets bought out, in spain, italy, germany and latin america joint ownership is not a problem, one partner takes a bonus to leave on contract signing.

Can't see this one happening.
