Pompey looking to catch 'spider-man'

Pompey looking to catch 'spider-man'

Harry Redknapp has gone on record as saying he was looking for another striker and a winger before the transfer window ends - and 'reports' are claiming he may be about to get a winger?

Jonas Gutierrez, better known as 'spider-man' in La Liga due to his love of superhero, even more so after donning a spider-man mask - as he had promised - in celebration of a goal he scored for Real Mallorca.

The Daily Mail is claiming that the left winger, which makes it a little more tasty, as a left winger would be what Redknapp is looking for, 'caught his eye' when he had gone over to Spain to watch Fredi Kanoute, but Gutierrez 'stole the show'.

The amount being banded about it £4m, which for a 24 year old international, as he made his Argentina debut in February this year, is not bad is it - I am not familiar with the fella myself though, is anyone else?

One fella that wont be coming to Pompey though is Trinidadian youngster Lester Peltier, who along with a couple of his countrymen were said to be interesting Pompey.

A work permit was not given, much to the anger of his agent who claims the Trinidadian Football Federation did not do a lot to help the 'highly talented' midfielder win a work permit - so he will not be able to come to the South Coast.

Wikipedia lists him as a striker. Then again, Wikipedia isn't the most reliable of sources, it also has two different birthdates (4 years apart) for our webslinger here.

Never heard of him, but if he is in the current Argentinian squad he should be good, Peltier cant get enough games to qualify for a permit can he, never mind the spider man would do and at 4 million that is hardly breaking the bank is it? or am i really being a little naive?

i must admit i have never heard of Gutierrez or geezerears or what ever his name is, i suggest we call him Guti and pretend.... but if he is that good why is he at Real Mallorca, i hope Harry doesnt bought him on the strentgh of one game, that seems risky. Annoying also since he wouldnt do it for Giovanni who is still the best player i have seen pre season. In regards to young Peltier it is not for T&T to change their team for our convenience, that is just a complete nonsense, if HR rates him we can put a retainer contract to him that comes into force once he has played the requisite games, like all the "big" clubs do. anyonre checked youtube for Guti ?

if he plays for argentina, he cant be bad. like torres he has played for a mediocre team, so we coukd expect him to do better when we have some decent midfield alongside him? as for left winger, is this cover for matty, as surely we arnt looking to sell him?

Can only find one goal of his on You tube, looks ok. Did find an old thread, stating that he hoped to be signed by liverpool after aweek long trial, trouble was it was a dead lead and it couldn't be opened so i couldn't read anymore than that. Annoying about the young lad though, by all accounts he'sa decent player. now some clubs on the continent are looking at him. I agree with you Russ, put him on aRetainer if he's that good.

No Matty can slot in at left back when required and Traore will be missing in January wont he. Hopefully if it is true he gives us another option, i still think Bouazza wants to come to us which is why he is not kicking up about the fee etc with Fulham.

I think the same re Bouazza, that particular one has been going on for too long, for their to be more substance than just pure rumour.

yep agreed Bouazza to, sign him loan him back to watford ( this should help to lower the signing cost) and more importantly let him get more playing experience and prep work for the step up

agreed, loan him back if we were to get him - he wouldnt get the games he needs with us, and still needs the experiance, and a lower transfer fee would be nice too.
