Pompey's date with their saviour

Pompey's date with their saviour

Saturday afternoon will see Pompey come face to face with the man who quite literally saved us from near certain extinction - Milan Mandaric, now chairman of Leicester.

It will most probably be an emotional day for all concerned, but those of us that were fortunate enough to meet Mandaric through the South West Supporters Club all those years ago at that hotel in Swindon, when he explained his visions for the club - something which has seen virtually all his dreams, apart from the stadium come true - will no doubt cast an even closer eye over the game.

There will absolutely no doubt about it be a massive turn out of Pompey fans, not simply because it is the final chance to see the players before the season kicks off, against the most high profile opponents we have faced in pre season, in this country anyway, but because it is Mandaric's new team.

I just wish I could be one of the thousands to make the trek to the Midlands, but without transport from my South West base, not to mention a ticket for the all ticket match, I will be unable - radio coverage will have to do for me on this occasion unfortunately.

Can't wait, should be a good game. For those travelling, Leicester has it's annual carribean carnival also on Saturday which will make the place very busy.

It will be interesting to see the team HR picks - will it be close to the team for the 1st match of the season v Derby, I wonder?

the closer the game gets the more i wish i could be there! i think you may well be right mate - my thinking is that the starting side would be pretty close to, if not the starting side, that faces derby...

Should be a great day out, as it is a great stadium, are any of the vital readers going, we will be having a beer in Wigston if anyone is in the area. This will be the time to have a look how we are going to line up on the big day.

i envy all those going, as i cant! I should think it will be a good run out, and hopefully another clean sheet for pour defence, and a few confidence boosting goals for nugent and co.

I can't go either and am gutted, but hopefully it'll be a great game....nugent'll score a couple, Lua will continue to show his true worth, and the defence will keep up their great pre-season stinginess!

Unless MM throws buckets of money at it I can't see them going up in the next few years.

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!

Will pair stay at Fratton?

It's been made (more than once) clear by Catlin Pompey want Davies & Hollands to stay. Both (also more than once) have said they want to this - deals have to be right for all concerned.
