Why is Taylor's future 'uncertain?'

Why is Taylor's future 'uncertain?'

Matty Taylor is a name often linked with other clubs, as has been the case again throughout this summer. The fact that he has allegedly been told 'he cannot be guaranteed a first team place' is the latest reason for him to leave Fratton.

Pompey are taking up a fair few column inches in the media today, the mail on Sunday in particular - most of which will be saved for the 'Pompey Chimes' news round up - but this, along with the Andrew Cole article proved too tasty for me to overlook.

There are very few players that should be 'untouchable' - in the words of Jose Mourinho - in any first team but we all know that certain players are almost just that, but once you start handing out cast iron assurances that players will be a first choice pick you can be in trouble in some instances.

With the amount of games that will be played, not to mention the size of the squad we have, a lot of players will be used. Competition for places is healthy and is needed for any club to succeed, with my thinking being that most players accept this these days.

My thinking would be that Taylor would not be demanding a starting place anyway - and he would not need to, as he will play as much as most others this season anyway. But should this ever become the case, as much as I do like him I do not like the demanding of a place no matter who they are.

On the oficial barclays premeir league site, harry said that we still need to strengthen 1 or 2 areas before the start of the season. It looks like our time in the transfer market is far from over. ... ... as for taylor, i dont think he'll be going anywhere. Im pretty sure hes got over his spurs obsesion, and anyother move is just sideways for him. (i dont think any top 4 side would want him).

depends on how you view spurs - they could well be a top 4 club this season... altho i am with you mate he is going nowhere, besides we will be in the top 4 in a few years time anyway :)

i think spurs may push out the Arse this season, the rumours around Taylor persist because he doesnt get on with his boss. I do think he needs competition for his position and maybe thats why Herman was brought in. Matty is however proffessional in approach and some times inspirational so we need him to stay.

Matt does have the talent and we should try and make sure he stays at Pompey, Ok he didn't have the best game in the Asis Trophy final but where would have been last season if he has of been elsewhere.

Agree Russellm I think Spurs could push the Arse all the way...what was that !!!! IRAQ have just scored in the ASIA CUP FINAL. If they hang out, currently 1-0 there will be more guns going off in BAGHDAD...

i disagree about spurs kicking arsnal out of the top 4. Arsnal had a bad season last season, and still comftably came out on top. Without henry, they had a better ratio of wins to games, so that should not be a problem, and they play nice football, so i dont want to see them out of the champions league. but thats beside the piont...matty is a good english playor, who should make it into the national team if he has another good season - especialy if mcclaren comes to visi us.

Laets get one thing staright..Defoe aint comin to Fratton!! The boys ego is bigger than the new anfield Kop.he is not 4th choice at Spurs they have two small guys and two big guys..He is one of the two small guys...Shame on both accounts cuase i rate him very highly and would love him with us. 2.Taylor will leave at some point..a bigger shame because He has been fantastic..one of the old crew from the division below who has made his name at Pompey. we must not fool ourselves about all this i regularly visit a rumours site that has us linked to these names today Jonathan de Guzman Rafael Sóbis striker Nuri Şahin attacking midfielder Kerlons souza attacking midfeilder Giovanni dos Santos atacking midfielder. you must check out Kerlons Souza's dribbling skills on you tube its called the seal dribble and he runs along with the ball bouncing on his head leaving the defenders not knowing what to do..Fancy that at FP..stuff you Ronaldinho

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!

Will pair stay at Fratton?

It's been made (more than once) clear by Catlin Pompey want Davies & Hollands to stay. Both (also more than once) have said they want to this - deals have to be right for all concerned.
