Redknapp and Cole ready to rumble

Redknapp and Cole ready to rumble

Reports are starting to filter through early this Sunday morning that Andrew Cole 'was not left behind' from the squad that went to Hong Kong for the Barclays Asia Trophy, he decided to stay behind himself.

Harry Redknapp is said to have told the mail on Sunday 'It was his choice. We asked him if he wanted to come and he said he would rather stay at home because he thought he could train better and recover from a knock. He could have come here and I don't know why he would say differently. I think he wants to leave the club'.

Clearly Cole is not in the clubs plans, this has been clear for sometime. If seeing him sent out on loan last season, with the view to a permanent move away was not enough of a clue, the fact that he has not featured in pre season at all must be.

You do not know what goes on behind closed doors, but my thinking would be it is probably six of one and half a dozen of another with the whole 'you could have come, but you did not want to' argument building up here.

Either way, my thoughts from earlier in the week that Cole would not play another game for Pompey - after what he was claimed to have said - are even more likely to be the case now.

Cole isn't exactly going to feature heavily if he stays, so it's in his best interests to find either a lower half Prem team who'll take him, or 'do a Fowler' and try to boost the fortunes of a Championship club....where he'd obviously be a big fish in a small pond and automatic first choice.

Harry is lying. Its his old annoying tactic, ignore the truth, tell a lie and then rely on briefing his mates in the press. HR has done it so many times before and we can all think of players names, you will recall he even said the same thing about Toddy last year and just about everybody at west ham before. We just have to accpet that our manager frequently doesnt tell the truth, that's all.

i am more concerned about why HR is getting Nugent to brief the press against Roy Keane and Sundeland. It seems stupid, the press were criticising Quin and HR should fight his own battles. I would rather Nugent became a regular goal scorer for us before he starts that stuff, it has a great habit of commig back to bite you on the Arsenal. Keane inspires loyalty in his players and you can be sure that it will be taped to the sunderland team wall when we play them.

'arry does bend the truth at times, okay more than bends it - but in this instance, altho i clearly dont know the full story as i say i think it is a case of 6 of one, half a dozen of another... ive touched on your points on nugent here russ, with something i have just added about quinn saying sorry for what he said...
29/07/2007 13:02:00
Quinn has made a point but I am sure he would like to make more than the 15 that Sunderland got on their last visit to the Prem.
29/07/2007 14:10:00
i am sure sunderland will do well next season, they have a good manager, a good stadium, and a an improving team. However, the competion will be very tough, and they will do well to beat us.
29/07/2007 18:36:00
Early days but with our current strike threat i dont think we will see an away pushover, i also remember we struggled to beat then at home. I see them surviving in place of Fulham, i dont feel that sanchez nice guy as he is, is up to it but 4 years of Coleman say what you like about Alfayed as a chairman he shows his manager some loyalty.

well i've always liked Andy Cole as a player, but like a few last season at PFC he didnt really kick it as a goal scorer. if he goes I hope its to NForrest his home town...why... beacuse ive backed Man URE, Liecester, Forrest, and MK Dons in a combination bet, and he can help make me some dosh at NFFC

good luck with that bet mate - hope it comes off for you, but cannot seeing him going to forest tbh...

nah he'll want premiership, so i guess it's the Derby or birmingham rumours then
