Who rattled Niall Quinn's cage!

Who rattled Niall Quinn's cage!

Yep, it is true that the transfer market these days is massively over inflated but who is Niall Quinn to single Pompey out, as he also did West Ham, as 'the main culprits' for this?

These are a few things he said in an article published by the BBC 'there's six or seven new owners who are spending money, but are they getting the type of player that the top four want? I don't think so.

'If I was going to spend a fortune on breaking the bank, I would be going after the players Liverpool or Manchester United wanted to sign.

'But, in the middle, people are fighting each other and raising the prices for the same players. You can see it with West Ham and Portsmouth.

'The agents are having an absolute 'beano'. It's like a property market, where estate agents own half the property or, in West Ham's case, it looks like all the property'.

It is true to say that Pompey has been one of the bigger spenders this summer, but have we spent beyond out means, or anymore than we were prepared to? Nope - all players are over priced now, but we have not paid any more than was necessary.

Harry Redknapp is signing the players he wants to sign and is paying the money that Sasha Gaydamak is prepared to pay, investing it within the club on and off the pitch as he sees fit - simple as.

In any case he is hardly one to speak, paying £5m for Michael Chopra and a further £5m plus for Kieran Richardson, not to mention the fact that the club were prepared to pay close to £10m for Craig Gordon is hardly paying, or would be paying nothing for players.

Jealousy can be a horrible thing, maybe he is feeling this after missing out on David Nugent. Either way I think Quinn would be better off keeping his mouth shut and concentrating on what his side are doing and who they are, or are not buying than what anyone else is doing.

David Nugent completely unproven in the premiership and not a natural goal scorer. I am no Sunderland fan but expect a flop in David Nugent IMHO. UTV

Totally agree with the guy who wrote this article. I'm a West Ham fan and we have not paid any more than nessisary to bring players to this club. I also don't see any over inflated prices on the players Portsmouth have bought. He would do well to keep his mouth shut or they'll be very hostile atmospheres at Upton and Fratton Park when time comes for us to play Sunderland!

It's a bit of a rant, but Quinn's got a point about people with nothing to do with football harming the game splashing their cash about!

from what 'arry said after the game today he isnt best pleased with niall quinn either - so i doubt this is the last we will hear of this... what pomepy do is nothing to do with quinn or anyone else... as for people coming in to 'harm the game' Blade1889, sasha gaydamak is doing anything but harming pompey mate - he is taking us further forward than we could have though possible really...

clearly some morron who is too afraid to voice their opinion within this debate, simply because they know they are wrong as is quinn - who DID however take it upon themself to send me a rather offensive email does not agree... i have got one thing to say to this fella tho '£5m for chopra, we actually paid less than that for nugent, who didnt want to go to sunderland even if they pulled the plug' - we will see who is laughing at the end of the season mate...

Absolutely right PR, the lanky git

"You've not seen nothing like the mighty Quinn" makes me choke at the thought of the old song. Chopra sounds like an Indian Beer, yet there is more power in KEANE's Mustard. Sunderland like making points but there last 2 visitations to the Premier League only produced 19 and 15 respectively !!
