Sean Davis set for injury lay off

There has been nothing official confirmed, but early reports are claiming that Sean Davis could miss the early weeks, maybe the majority of the opening month of the season with a knee injury.

He came on as a half time substitute against Fulham on Tuesday, but only lasted about 20 minutes before he had to come off again with an injury.

Davis had looked impressive during pre season, where he scored a stunning goal against Havant, so although he might have found it hard to gain a regular starting place this season it is still a set back for the both him and the club - and could prove a major set back for him as it could hand others a chance ahead of him.

It is not quite clear how it happened, but the knee injury he sustained will require a scan and the thought is he could be out for 5 weeks.

Thats a shame for the lad, Our best player against Havant, and what a sublime goal. A decent player, we could miss against some of the teams we are due to play early on.

tough on him, i only see him starting against the bolton, blackburn, sunderland derby combative team ilk. Which is a bit unfortunate because as penton says we face them early on.

yep, i like davis but would still be surprised to see him hang around too long if he is not playing... i dont think he would have gone in this window, the injury has seen to this for sure, but might have in january - and still may?

The season is a long one, plenty of time to give us something later.
