It is on if Harry Redknapp thinks so

It is on if Harry Redknapp thinks so

David James became the latest player to set aims for a European place this season - which led me to asking if it was an aim we were going for ourselves.

It has since been revealed with what Harry Redknapp has said on the Pompey site that this is the aim - and something he too is looking for 'we want to try and improve on last season. We finished ninth and missed out on Europe on the last day of the season.

'I think this year with this squad the aim is to get a European place - and I think it's possible'.

If Redknapp is saying such things, even though he admits it will be tough, which it will and this is not an excuse, you can rest assured he will give it a good go.

Half a dozen clubs will think they can make it, but if we apply ourselves correctly and have a go we can do it. For this to be the case though, like I have said before, we have to approach away games in a more positive manor.

So if Redknapp is himself now believing a European place is possible this is the clearest indication yet that he will look to have a go away from Fratton as well as at it, as well as having a proper go at both domestic cup competitions.

the key is the early tests of our away form, our 8,1 formation :-) is dreadfull to experience, hasnt worked and without an absoloute prolific goal scorer it never will.

Top 10 is a good return this year I think. Have a feeling this is going to be some championship this year. So many teams have spent big this year, some adding to already good squads and some rebuilding. So much money around this summer it's crazy!! We still need that striker to fire us away from home. Harry to take his 'Anti draw away from home tablets' and we might just make it, gonna be a roller coaster I think. Target the cups, has to be a logical direction for us to follow, Has served The Spuds well over the years.

i think it is almost certain that we will play 2 forwards in virtually every match this season, so this will at least give us a chance to win more away as i really think we will be far less negative and much more positive... we have the players that can win games home and away now, so as long as they are used correctly this roller coaster season, which it most probably will be - i agree penton - should have a good ending, not a final destination 3 roller coaster ending!

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
