Harry issues hands off Sol warning

Reports recently have linked Everton with a move for Sol Campbell - as well as yet more renewed interest from Newcastle.

But in a press conference in Hong Kong Harry Redknapp has again said that Campbell is not available 'Sol is under contract here and we want to keep him. We sign players on a contract and they are tied to the club for the period of that contract. It's as simple as that.

'Sol is a big part of my plans. I want him to be here and he will be here.

'We are looking strong in that area and we want to keep it that way. Sol is happy here and enjoying his football. He's staying here'.

There will always be 'speculation' linking out players with other clubs, but as we continue to move forward this will stop.

Without wanting to get too carried away, potentially our progression could lead to only a very small selection of clubs being ahead of us in the league, these clubs being the ones labelled 'the big four', but even this band are not untouchable in time.

But in order to make sure we do keep our players we do have to make this potential a reality.

Back to the Campbell matter, he is said to also be heavily involved with matters behind the scenes here, so why would he want to leave in any case? What could Everton or Newcastle offer him that we cannot - nothing!

I hope he stays beyond his contract but my thinking is that Campbell will see it out then probably leave - trying his hand with a European team for a year or two before, if not going there anyway, finishing in America and moving into acting.

goood finale, personal i think he could do the coaching and management badge thing. Whilst i know good players do not always make good mangers, ala keegan, pearce not to mention MCClown. But as you say he is heavily involved now and is said to have persuaded TA to stay so i really see him in some sort of management role.

although hopefully we will see him extend his contract before the year is out if only to give him some sale value to the club.

i think that he will stay at the club - although possibly take an increasingly backseat role, possibly before succeding tony adams. You heard him talk about the new stadium, and how he would love to be a part of the club in years to come. I dont see him leaving for a while...

Well he's only just lost out on Buying Broughton Manor, up near Stockbridge, Know this because Clients of ours have just purchased it.Can't imagine he would be looking to spend £4m and then shoot off up North. Twice been seen in stockbridge in the Last couple of weeks, only found out last night.

No retirement plans

Doyle might have turned 35 recently, which in reality means he's in the final throws of his playing career, but he's not ready to call it a day with Pompey (or otherwise) anytime soon.

On this day in history...20th October

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 20th October.

Linganzi presence needed

I've liked Rose since he signed in the summer but perhaps the former Oxford midfielder lacks the physicality Pompey sometimes need, which is why Linganzi has come in of late.

Pompey 'sent a message' at Plymouth

I'm still not completely sure if we should see Plymouth as 'two-points dropped?' Although I'm learning towards it being a result Pompey will be happier with than our hosts.
