Where do the papers dig it up?

Where do the papers dig it up?

It is unbelievable the lengths some papers will go to for a story!

Only this weekend, on the Pompey Site, the official online home of Portsmouth Football Club - and an outlet that should be the place that few can question - Pompey announced that a deal with Kanu was close. This is something the Pompey site would not do without a fair degree of certainty - not so say the Mirror today.

They claim that there is 'no place for Kanu' and he is set to leave for Espanyol after 'being seen storming out of Fratton Park last week'. Another reason they give for him being likely to leave is the fact that he has been left behind instead of going with the Pompey squad to Hong Kong.

It had previously been confirmed that he would not be going to Hong Kong, with his contract being sorted while we are away. Kanu has played no part in pre season so far so why would he go along to Hong Kong? Until his future is sorted he will not play another game for the club and rightly so.

Yep, Kanu has whinged a fair bit to the media and the time has long since gone when he should either sign a deal to stay, or decline and walk away, but the media manipulation all along has not helped matters.

PLAY UP POMPEY!

exactly why they do it to get a bite - and they have... it is unbelievable tho that a clubs official site can claim something, which is taken as almost gospel, only 24 hours before then a paper says something completely opposite... kanu may not have helped himself but the media has in my thinking anyway made him out to be far more of a monster than he is, their complete contradicting of what pompey are telling the fans adds further backing to this on my part...

in your 'smart kind of way of saying things mate' that you have, i sort of see what you are saying... yep they have given vital something to run with but the point i am getting at is this is a prime example of the media do best on the whole - that is talking crap trying to stir things us... why would an official pompey publication tell us a deal was close if it was not? nothing is ever published on the pompey site if it isn't a certainty, or near certainty... what the mirror has done is give me yet more reasons to doubt that anything that is ever published in the papers is true...

More importantly though if Kanu's not been involved with pre-season does this mean that (if he signs) he's going to start this season as unfit as last season. Brilliant.

good point mate... kanu does not work that hard at the best of times does he but his lack of pre season last year always left him playing catch up, a 2nd year without it wont help him or us will it?

Having said that though he did have quite an explosive start to the season!! just faded away later, but with our new players this shouldn't leave us anywhere near as exposed.

thats becuase he didnt have a pre season and therefore took that additional tinme to get knackered. I called my mate in media street about this and the story seems to have come from Kanu's agent.... SHOCK HORROR

oh-no...was that the one that said ajax was intrested in him? You know what, i just might think that theres a ring of truth in this story...trustworth agent, making claims that can not be justified, following a string of other unjustifiable claims...hes gotta be right once :)
