Pompey confirm Kanu deal is close

Pompey has confirmed that a deal to see Kanu a Pompey player again next season is getting closer to being agreed.

Chief exec Peter Storrie has said to the Pompey site that further talks have taken place and they were fruitful 'we've had another meeting with Kanu and it looks like things are reasonably close now. We're hopeful.

'If Kanu came in we'd be looking at bringing in a wide player'.

This Kanu situation has seemed to drag on forever - probably because it has!

My thinking is Kanu would still be very handy to have around this season and could have a great impact for the club from the bench, if he would be happy with this of course?

But if a deal cannot be agreed by the time we return from Hong Kong, as is expected, then it has to be time to move him on.

Should help Utaka to settle in quickly having a familiar face about the place....and of course if he can chip in with the kind of scoring rate he had in the first half of last season it would be a definite bonus.

seems we are making a bid for Guerrero the peruvian striker who plays in the bundesliga, tghought it was for Hamburg but maybe not

Another striker in the rumour pot eh? I'm expecting Arry to grab one more, but no idea how much we're prepared to spend.....interesting times.

Rather have Kanu around but as long as his attitude to us is right. As for another striker, let's hope so. To replace Lua Lua, maybe?

guerrero is something of a 'rebel' by what i can make out isn't he? do we really need someone like that causing waves? im prob well off the mark tho... kanu could have quite an impact for us this season - from the bench - as he showed against blackburn last season... rather than start him we should save him for the final 30 mins or so then unleash him and he will pose a problem or two...

I can see Kanu's attributes, sometimes struggle...but can see them. Just can't stand the man. Even at his Charity game he couldn't be bothered to say a personal thanks to us 5000 who turned up, had a piece read out! went right down in my lowly opinion, been nothing but trouble for a whole 12 months...I know he scored a few, but....

well, espanyol for kanu, according to our much loved mirror, he stormed out of fratton park and is about to move off. could this possibley be, that another club are actually intrested in him???

it is the media doing what they do best, talking crap trying to stir things us... why would an official pompey publication tell us a deal was close if it was not? nothing is ever published on the pompey site if it isn't a certainty, or near certainty...
