Pompey lose Geovanni to Man City

Much to my disappointment is has been confirmed that Geovanni, the Brazilian trialist we have had here, has signed for Man City.

After expressing his desire to sign for Pompey only yesterday, following a very impressive debut showing against Yeovil on Saturday he has secured the move to the Premiership he wanted - but it will be at Man City.

It is a shame that he has slipped the net, particularly as Pompey brought him into the country, but my thinking is that Harry Redknapp must have decided against signing him if he was able to get away so easily - but he should know best.

In fairness I don't think you guys needed him. How many strikers are on the books now? With the added inclusion of Nugget too, I don't think you'll miss him.

I just hope that we dont look back during the season and regret not snapping him up. He looks like he will be a decent addition to the City squad.

Harry knows what he wants but SGE ain't no mug either. Let's hope he doesn't score 20+ next season.

Gutted!!!....I don't think that it is his goals so much as his potential assists that we will miss. I had a gut feeling once his name broke that others would come sniffing.

It's about money, I can guarantee that he moved to Man City over us because of it.

agreed pentonpompey, i too am gutted by this... i feel he could have scored goals aswell as creating others and he would have come into his own come the african nations... city are a team that have to be watched as they are quietly putting together a decent squad of players, so with more arriving many should be wary of them...

We're not gonna be overjoyed if he bangs in a load of goals for them! Might have been a case of us faffing about offering him a deal.

We cant sign all our targets and i would imagine the money that City should have and the lure of the big city would appeal more to him than us, never mind lads there are still players around who Harry will be targeting.

money, and he wouldnt have guaranteed first team football with us. we couldnt compete, and he will be sorely missed - but missed as a squad playor, not a first team playor. bet hes playor of the season next year :)
