Pompey lose Geovanni to Man City

Much to my disappointment is has been confirmed that Geovanni, the Brazilian trialist we have had here, has signed for Man City.

After expressing his desire to sign for Pompey only yesterday, following a very impressive debut showing against Yeovil on Saturday he has secured the move to the Premiership he wanted - but it will be at Man City.

It is a shame that he has slipped the net, particularly as Pompey brought him into the country, but my thinking is that Harry Redknapp must have decided against signing him if he was able to get away so easily - but he should know best.

In fairness I don't think you guys needed him. How many strikers are on the books now? With the added inclusion of Nugget too, I don't think you'll miss him.

I just hope that we dont look back during the season and regret not snapping him up. He looks like he will be a decent addition to the City squad.

Harry knows what he wants but SGE ain't no mug either. Let's hope he doesn't score 20+ next season.

Gutted!!!....I don't think that it is his goals so much as his potential assists that we will miss. I had a gut feeling once his name broke that others would come sniffing.

It's about money, I can guarantee that he moved to Man City over us because of it.

agreed pentonpompey, i too am gutted by this... i feel he could have scored goals aswell as creating others and he would have come into his own come the african nations... city are a team that have to be watched as they are quietly putting together a decent squad of players, so with more arriving many should be wary of them...

We're not gonna be overjoyed if he bangs in a load of goals for them! Might have been a case of us faffing about offering him a deal.

We cant sign all our targets and i would imagine the money that City should have and the lure of the big city would appeal more to him than us, never mind lads there are still players around who Harry will be targeting.

money, and he wouldnt have guaranteed first team football with us. we couldnt compete, and he will be sorely missed - but missed as a squad playor, not a first team playor. bet hes playor of the season next year :)

pompeycarpets hit the nail on the head! at man city he has a real chance of playing first team footie, wouldve been alot tougher at Pompey!!

listening to macca and the fellas on the radio on reflection maybe it might not be a bad thing that city have signed him taking a 'punt' when maybe we would not... ideally taking him to asia would have been nice to have given him a few more high profile games but city offered him something and he went... only time will tell who has made the right choice...

maybe it was a miscalculation, should have offered a bigger bung to the agent, bigger fish in the sea.

His goals record wasn't that great, he was more of an attacking midfielder

Shut up Chris is Here you moron, if you bothered to check the facts you will have seen that in fact it is McKay who is the centre of attention regarding the investigation, both Pompey and Rangers were scammed by this to55er and he then did the dirty deal with Toon who benefitted - allegedly.

Again i must apologise sorry Lysi, what langauge is that ?, this high brow level of debate is leaving me at a bit of a loss, although i would agree with the "money sucking" comment, it is pure genious given the investigation.

on the investigation note it appears my hunch about the link was bang on faye boumsong and McKaye etc. my worry is that we have a few players with McKaye they include Matty Taylor-coincidentially is always being linked with other teams ,fulham, spurs,l'pool and now Everton. Benji is also a player of his and there are others GON i believe is another....Im Not sure this over

Perhaps Harry stalled and couldn't make up his mind, hoping to get him on the cheap or perhaps he was frightened in case we are in trouble with the Police !!

I must be in the minority, City nipping in before us didn't bother me too much at all, we are well equipped in that dept. and Chris is Here, I think you have been sucked in with all the Harry Redknapp "wheeler-dealer" "Barrow boy" crap the media like to portray, Amdy Faye was transferred after Harry had his sabatical, and the Lord Stevens report was also centered on activity when he was not at the club.

tbh fellas i just ignore what people like Chris is Here say - muppet often springs to mind tho... i was disappointed that we lost geovanni at first mate, but as i said 'on reflection maybe it might not be a bad thing that city have signed him taking a 'punt' when maybe we would not... ideally taking him to asia would have been nice to have given him a few more high profile games but city offered him something and he went... only time will tell who has made the right choice'...

Well, he's not English so he'll be treated with the utmost respect by Sven 'Boring' Ericksson. As has been said already, guaranteed a start with them, not necessarily with us due to our larger and more skilful squad.

Did you see Sven on Sky this morning when he forgot his players name? Good start Sven, must be someone that you chased long and hard mate.
