Diarra not Pompey bound

Diarra not Pompey bound

French international Alou Diarra had been heavily 'linked' with Pompey this summer but Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed he rejected the chance to join and now insists that even though they would have let him go he will now be staying with them with the matter being 'closed'.

He said to L'Equipe 'Alou Diarra did not find any club.

'We found Portsmouth, but he did not want to go'.

It had looked as though we would sign him, but clearly he did not want to come here - and we only want players at Pompey that want to be here.

You can never have too much quality in your side, let alone squad, so you would think he would have added this to both, but with the midfielders we now have we are more than covered so my thinking is this is not really a big deal is it - it is his loss!

Not bothered. I think Harry will have enough trouble keeping the whole squad happy anyway. So if the man did come, would it have been to wear the shirt or check his Bank balance?

Stay where you are mate, no doubt when we are riding high in the league you will change your mind, but dont choose to come then as we will turn you down. He probably thinks he is too big for us, we have heard that before, think of Fanfan last year, i read an article this week by him and he wants to come to the Premiership soon as part of his development.

i think we need to put things into perspective here, we made an offer for the man over a month ago, he said no over a month ago, its not really new news, i dont really see how he would have fitted in any case. its a quiet news day and it was bound to be as the boss will be preparing for the Yeovil game, i guess rumour things will start up again on Tuesday morning

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
