You voted 'Muntari to mark Thatcher'

I would like to see Sulley Muntari man mark Ben Thatcher if he can! Not my vote, yours - although he would also edge my vote over Joey Barton, as it proved.

The majority that voted in Tantona's poll were of the opinion that seeing Muntari man mark Thatcher - from options available - would be what they would want most.

Roll on league cup and FA cup ties, we can only hope that we draw Charlton. If we do Muntari could be the man to extract some revenge - clearly fairly though! - for what he did to Pedro Mendes last season. But either way Barton can get it from him too.

What the poll asked - Which player would you most like to see man-marked by Sulley 'Mick Kennedy' Muntari next season?

How you voted - Ben Thatcher (in the event of a cup tie or move) 49%, Joey Barton 30%, Didier Zokora 10%, Other (Provide suggestions) 6%, Cristiano Ronaldo 4%, James Beattie 1%, Wayne Bridge 0%

Current Poll - The players have been back in training for a week now and our first friendly takes place on Saturday as we travel to Yeovil as part of a 3 day training camp and match.

This match should give us the chance to see a glimpse of all the new signings, but 'which new signing are you most looking forward to seeing against Yeovil on Saturday?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

thwack barton...he has it coming (and i dont think he would win in a fight :) )...on another note, pompey have unveiled there home kit on the website. It looks quite nice, and the playors all sound very happy with it, although i think the old one looked better..:)
pompeycarpet
AH !! see now when, i saw the headline i wondered what the connection was with the idiot son of our old prime minister
russellm
I agree with you Russelm, when I saw the headline I created an account just to say "Please stop clogging up newsnow with non news."
chrisss
It's great news that everyone wants to kick Thatchers head in. I don't think that boy has enough about him to creaet an account on Vital Football
Pompeyscum
What comes around goes around. No doubt a piano will fall on him from the sixth floor.
storagematt
chrisss i may be wrong but i think you will find that russ is not actually saying what you are at all - are you mate? he just could not get the link at first... sorry, but you must have too much time on your hands if you worry about things clogging up newsnow mate... maybe non news but what is the point of running polls if results are not revealed eh?
pompeyrug
Sorry, PompeyCarpet, never liked the old shirt much - looked cheap and cost loads. The black one was ok, though. Re: Sulley, let's give him a hit list that he can tick after each match.
Et_tu_Pompeii
well, i did quite like the away shirt, and at £10 at the end of the season, it was good value too :)
pompeycarpet
back on topic...who should he start with against derby? i dont know many of there playors...
pompeycarpet
technically pompeycarpet your issue is off topic too as thatcher is the topic here :) but on your issue my teams for derby - if 'arry decides to play 4-4-2 as he should! - would prob be jamo, stefanovic - as he will be in cos he is captain, sol, optimus, lauren, taylor, muntari, mendes, o'neil or utaka - if he signs, nugent - if he signs, benjani... altho my thinking is 'arry will go with distin as opposed to optimus primus...
pompeyrug
ah. now we get into confusing comments...i meant, who should muntari start by taking out next season, in response to E_T_P, although our starting line up should be just as intresing.
pompeycarpet
Thatcher deseves all that is coming to him, he has kicked his way around the Premiership for years, and i could not believe it when we were being touted as being interested in him when he was leaving Spurs. Its ok being tough or hard but he is a cheap shot specialist, lts home he comes back to Fratton soon.
Owenspompey
actually pompeyrug !!!! you are right, i was also under the influence of some freebie booze.
russellm
i think regards octopus prime you are right, Harry will use his injury and op as a reason to select Distin first. God i hope you are wrong about Dejan, he is great at the saving tackle in the 6 yard box but if players get a run on him we are relying on Jamo for inspiration and salvation.
russellm
Come on then Russel where is all this freebie booze coming from ? Team v Derby; James, Lauren,Campbell,Distin,Herman O'Neill, Mendes,Muntari,Taylor Nugent,Benjani Subs;Ashdown,Primus,Kanu,Lua Lua,Krancjar Play up Pompey
Owenspompey
Looks a decent team with a decent bench, the future looks bright!
paultsmouth
and there is still loads of quality that isnt even on your proposed bench! we have mvuemba, hughes, davis in midield, (cough) dejan and cranie in defence and ...errr, well, we still need those strikers!
pompeycarpet
sorry pompeycarpet, comunications breakdown, i see what you mean now mate... he'll probably start by taking someone out in the opening game! yep, russ im aking you as Owenspompey did - where's all this free booze coming from? and can i have some... Owenspompey you dont really think 'arry will leave out stefanovic do you? maybe he should, but it wont happen will it mate - not to start with anyway. very attacking bench tho, i like it...
pompeyrug
He has got to be cruel now, is Dejan good enough or quick enough? Not if everybody is fit, Dejans chance will come when we are down to Harrys 'Bare Bones' in January.
