Nugent back for more talks?
The official Preston site has announced that David Nugent will not be training with them today as was expected.
Instead it has been said that he is travelling back to Pompey for further talks! www.pne.com.
After having a bid accepted last week it was looking good. But then not hearing anything left us thinking we would miss on out on him, but returning for more talks is a good thing is it not - or it is a delaying tactic?

you dont always get what you want tho do you mate... if he does sign afterall it will not take him long to realise he made the right decision! altho everton will still be in his heart he will soon realise pompey was a great move...

I still hope he makes the move because he will give us something different and exiting. The only reason i can think why he was takin so long is that he lives up north with his otha half and is said to be close 2 his family, so lets hope arry can struk a deal today maybe??? PUP

This guy is creating his own little soap opera this summer, let's just hope he decides to sign on the dotted line.....if he wasn't in the least bit interested he wouldn't have come back for further talks.

if 'arry thinks he is worth the wait that is good enough for me... simpson has said that the hold up with sunderland was as much down to him as it was nugent tho, but at the same time also said pompey and preston want to know what is going on... does anyone think we will get a decision by the end of today?

It is not that difficult is it?
Everton will not pay the asking price so you can hang on and hope they sign you next season, or by that time be a hero at Fortress Fratton, go on David make a decision.

I see Nugent as a better prospect than Kamara. Fulham have paid £5.5-£6m for him & we are supposedly offering £6m to PNE.

I hate to say it, but didnt toddy have a better scoring record in the championship than nugent? ive never seen the guy play, but i have a feeling that we will regret loosing toddy...as for kamara...where have fulham suddenly got the cash from? they have been short for ages, and suddenly they spend 6million on a pretty average playor (ok, he was good last season, but he hardl se the itch on fire for us)

yep pompeycarpet he did but we had a strong team in that division that season and basically overran the opposition. PNE didnt have that luxury. I agree storagematt, when you see how desperate teams are to get strikers it puits the market rate into perspective.

Nugent will be able to do the job for us, and is far quicker than Toddy ever was.
He would be worth the 6 million as we have a young prospect as opposed to the Kanu's of this world.
Fulham have suddenly realised that they need to invest to survive, but i bet that Brown,Rosenoir and John leave to free the money up to buy him.
But come on all that money for Kamara, even Quinny was laughing at that one on Talk Sport.

It is getting late on Monday night and there appears to be no news coming out about the transfer, it would seem he cant make his mind up or has anyone heard or seen anything ?

News coming out from a Bury website that Nugent is signing and they will receive 20% of the fee, its not an official site so we will have to wait and see, but they reckon its a deal subject to a wednesday medical

Probably be another couple of twists yet, but I get the feeling we are awaiting every little detail to be in place before we announce anything, think Everton last week!

just had a call from my rather drunken bury fan mate who is in a manc pub, saying "well done you southern monkeys we get 1.2 mill now" it seems that bury have agreed to get approx 1.1 million from Nugents acceptance to join pompey. Now i confess now he was lurring his words and speaking northenish so i may have got it wrong.

Its weird really because I can thinkof others that I might have got a little more excited about signing,-Defoe-but the sheer frustration of waiting for him to sign is excrutiating.I suppose apart from late accepted bids from Sven or moisty dave he will sign

Nugent is all over the Bury website now, apparently its been a done deal since Friday! The site claims to have Nugents mate and parents as members!

if he signs for us he will no longer play for england, this must be his only worry! mcclown doesnt look at this club, although maybe and i mean maybe! he might travel far and wide throughout the country to visit a little village called ports mouth and watch him! ............. ok who am i kidding! LOL

i still dont agree with the view that if you play for pompey you dont play for england... we have not had players good enough recently tbh have we - jamo and sol are the excpetions, but spineless had already made up his mind on these before they came here... if nugent performs he still has a chance, as do o'neil and taylor if they perform consistently...
