'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pompey Chimes (24)

What happened on Wednesday with Pompey and the media? Lets take a look.

Arnold Mvuemba made his move to Pompey a permanent one, signing a 3-year contract for an undisclosed amount - believed to be around 2million. This was reported in full on Vital Pompey in this article Mvuemba signs permanent Pompey deal.

Czech U21 defender Jiri Kladrubsky revealed how he could have signed for Pompey but chose Sparta Prague for now - the way sky sports report it makes it sound like he 'rejected' Pompey, but he actually chose to stay in the Czech Republic for now as he is not ready to move to the Premiership just yet. He was quoted as saying to idnes.cz 'going to the Premiership would be too big a jump for me, so I will move to a foreign club from the best Czech team'. He did say other things but none imply a rejection.

As one youngster Marc Wilson extended his contract with Pompey, something once again covered in full by Vital Pompey in this article Marc Wilson extends his contract, further new arrivals came to Fratton, with teenagers Paris Cowan-Hall and Callum Reynolds completing moves from Rushden & Diamonds after we paid a compensation fee for the highly rated youngsters. This too was covered in full on Vital Pompey in this article Pompey snap up kids.

Harry Redknapp again admitted he would 'love Defoe and Kanoute' at Pompey as he opened his heart to sky sports news on his desires to sign Jermain Defoe and Fredi Kanoute if he can.

Also speaking to sky sports news Redknapp said that talks had taken place with David Nugent, he liked the fella and would now just have to wait and see what he decides. This was another story covered in full by Vital Pompey in this article Now Pompey play the waiting game. Dejan Stefanovic also gave his captains view in The News as he urged Nugent to sign, saying Redknapp 'could make him and England star'.

The thing that really caught my eye - as I am sure it did many of you - was the confirmation that Svetoslav Todorov has completed his move to Charlton.

Upon completing his move - after signing a 1-year contract he told the official Charlton site 'leaving Portsmouth was a big decision for me but I'm looking forward to playing for Charlton.

'I like the way Alan Pardew's teams play. I saw his teams at Reading and at West Ham and liked their style'.

I still find it sad that we could not keep Todorov but Charlton should be able to give him something we could not, which is first team football - even if maybe he should have got that chance here?

But he is gone and we all move on, but we will wish him well - a little dig at Ben Thatcher in training would be a nice parting gift though.

All the best to Toddy, he will always be welcomed back like a returning hero if he should play against us. Would love to see him bang in loads just to make a point to 'Arry.
Tantona
ah well, at least we might get to see him in a few season - unlike if he went to lecister. Im still amazed that mvuemba talk was being kept so quiet. Has anybody else noticed that all our transfer feesare "undisclosed" - how much do you relly think we are paying? it is clear that someone doesnt want us to know something (are we getting them cheap, or expensive?)
pompeycarpet
Wish all the best to Toddy served r club very well. still cant belive redknapp got 2 young players in at the age of 16 and 17, thats not like him lol but still he must of seen something in them then. Im happy we got Arnold Mvuemba, he looks a good midfielder. lets hope Nugent comes soon and shortly after get another qualty striker in aswell. PUP
pompeydave14
Just over 5 weeks 'til KO. Onion bag filler required. SOON!
storagematt
I CAN beleive we got the playors, but i dont think it had much to do with harry, but more to do with Paul Hart. Mvuemba looks good, and finnaly we are getting some young playors in.
pompeycarpet
Good Luck toddy. all the Best.
Midge
hart could work wonders with any youth we can get in place here - he did it at forest didn't he... he might not quite have cut it as a manager, but over seeing the youth is what he does best, certainly in safe hands with him...
pompeyrug
agreed rug, the thing i think is positve is that hart is being given something to work with.
russellm
exactly mate, he can only work with what he is given - and he is being given a chance isn't he...
pompeyrug
Much to my surpise he is indeed pompeyrug, i see the Toddy departure as a positive, he was our only non african striker and with the ACoN comiing up i am convinced it means Harry is confident of securing a European striker such as Nugent. wish Toddy well though
russellm
The best Bulgarian we've ever had. I thought he'd be rubbish when we signed him. By Wigan away in April 2006, he could have walked into any pub in Pompey and never had to pay for a beer. I heard a rumour that he walked into the Devonshire after the Burnley game in 2003 when he scored the winner to get us promoted? Can anyone verify this story?
The Rabbi
best bulgarian in the prem... better than that yiddo berbatov anyway. good luck.
pompeycarpet
Great as Toddy was, I think I would take Berbatov if we could.
storagematt
ah...maybe...but thats spoiling the moment :)
pompeycarpet
things will eventually start not surprising us russell as we are honestly making moves forward on and off the pitch, long may this contiune... The Rabbi i agree mate, i thought he was crap at west ham but he proved what he could do here - it was just a shame he couldn't prove it more often in the end... that is a great story about the devonshire mate, i would love that to be true!
pompeyrug
Toddy will be in our history forever, and you were right that when he arrived from West Ham he did have to win us all over which he did. He was so unlucky to get the injuries that he did especially the ligament trouble which he has battled back from. He will do a job for Charlton and i think everyone at Pompey hopes he does the job for them, especially if he can knock Thatcher out !!
