Pompey Chimes (24)
What happened on Wednesday with Pompey and the media? Lets take a look.
Arnold Mvuemba made his move to Pompey a permanent one, signing a 3-year contract for an undisclosed amount - believed to be around £2million. This was reported in full on Vital Pompey in this article Mvuemba signs permanent Pompey deal.
Czech U21 defender Jiri Kladrubsky revealed how he could have signed for Pompey but chose Sparta Prague for now - the way sky sports report it makes it sound like he 'rejected' Pompey, but he actually chose to stay in the Czech Republic for now as he is not ready to move to the Premiership just yet. He was quoted as saying to idnes.cz 'going to the Premiership would be too big a jump for me, so I will move to a foreign club from the best Czech team'. He did say other things but none imply a rejection.
As one youngster Marc Wilson extended his contract with Pompey, something once again covered in full by Vital Pompey in this article Marc Wilson extends his contract, further new arrivals came to Fratton, with teenagers Paris Cowan-Hall and Callum Reynolds completing moves from Rushden & Diamonds after we paid a compensation fee for the highly rated youngsters. This too was covered in full on Vital Pompey in this article Pompey snap up kids.
Harry Redknapp again admitted he would 'love Defoe and Kanoute' at Pompey as he opened his heart to sky sports news on his desires to sign Jermain Defoe and Fredi Kanoute if he can.
Also speaking to sky sports news Redknapp said that talks had taken place with David Nugent, he liked the fella and would now just have to wait and see what he decides. This was another story covered in full by Vital Pompey in this article Now Pompey play the waiting game. Dejan Stefanovic also gave his captains view in The News as he urged Nugent to sign, saying Redknapp 'could make him and England star'.
The thing that really caught my eye - as I am sure it did many of you - was the confirmation that Svetoslav Todorov has completed his move to Charlton.
Upon completing his move - after signing a 1-year contract he told the official Charlton site 'leaving Portsmouth was a big decision for me but I'm looking forward to playing for Charlton.
'I like the way Alan Pardew's teams play. I saw his teams at Reading and at West Ham and liked their style'.
I still find it sad that we could not keep Todorov but Charlton should be able to give him something we could not, which is first team football - even if maybe he should have got that chance here?
But he is gone and we all move on, but we will wish him well - a little dig at Ben Thatcher in training would be a nice parting gift though.
PLAY UP POMPEY!
