New striker twist? I think not!
The News is reporting today that Harry Redknapp's search for new strikers might take 'a new twist' after what he said.
'I have got plenty of defenders now. I'm happy there; we've got lots of variation. There won't be anyone else.
'My priority is now finding strikers and wide players.
'We need strikers. I'm still looking all over the place for them but where are they?
'Ideally we'll get two strikers in. If not, I definitely want one good 'un'.
My thinking is our search for new strikers has not taken any new twist whatsoever?
It was always my belief that we were after one top class striker, so this hasn't changed - maybe the fact that Redknapp will have to limit it to 'just the one' as opposed to the two strikers he wanted might have to be the case, but I still see no reason why we could not get two if we really went for it.
I hate going against Redknapp or having a go at him as I love the fella to bits but I tend to disagree that they are not out there!
Yep, we do not want to pay too much but it is a common acceptance that you have to pay a price to get in this quality, this seems to be where we are falling flat on our face.
So it is not so much that we cannot get them, it is more that we are unwilling to get them.

your a hard man to please aren't you mate :) 'arry the strikers are out there if you really want them - but to get them you have to pay the price, until we do we will never get them... time to cut lose and spend some of this sasha's money, even if it means paying a tiny bit more that we would ideally like - unless of course sasha is deciding that 'arry cannot spend the money he would like...

Dave Nugent, Yakubu, Giampaolo Pazzini, Luis Fabiano, Jermain Defoe, Roberto Colautti - they are all out there! we know they are out there so where the hell are you looking Harry? Grief!!

I think Harry will start with Jamo in goal. 3 central defenders, 2 wing backs & 5 in midfield. Oh of course, silly me & 5 on the bench.

agreed TPB no top 4 side will move for defoe - if they do he will be in no better position than he is at spurs, he might win something tho... so again like you say mate he can bugger off elsewhere if he thinks he is 'above' the likes of pompey...

Its an expensive market but i like that old saying, "you have to speculate to accumulate" you want a quality goalscorer you have to pay the price.

Everybody wants strikers at the moment, so , like everything else, when demand goes up, prices go up. we have just got live with it. Everbody cant be paying "over the odds" for strikers - its just that there price has gone up. maybe if harry had some experiance in the housing market he would understand...

if everton wont pay anymore than £4m for nugent - according to the sunday tabloids - then this is going to make 'arry even less likely to 'take a gamble' isn't it? we will miss out, he'll go to sunderland have a good season then 'arry will look back with regrets... we could so easily get nugent - even tho everton would maybe be a preferred destination - if 'arry just took 'a risk' - not that he is that much of a risk anyway! - if we offered even a little more than we may end up desperately paying for harewood...

one thing that hasnt been brought up: harry said "one good 'un" or 2 strikers - that implies that if we only got one, we MIGHT actually splash some cash!!! - or maybe not...lets keep our hopes up...

it deepends what 'one good 'un' actually means tho doesn't it mate :) i hope it literally means just that and harewood is not classed as that 'good 'un' because he might cost £5m...
