Todorov moving on

Nothing official has been confirmed but The Quay were reporting on Friday evening that Svetoslav Todorov had opted against signing the new contract on offer to him and he will therefore become a free agent when his contract expires today.

His agent - Mark Donaghy - has since told The News 'We have told Portsmouth Toddy will not be accepting their offer of a contract.

'It's time for him to move on and we are currently speaking to a number of clubs, many of them English'.

Todorov's goals shot us to the Division One Championship in 2002/03 - and earned him the golden boot - but injuries, as has happened with so many of our strikers over the years, severely hampered his progress after.

Even when fit he rarely got a look in as Harry Redknapp often turned to others before the Bulgarian.

Despite his frequent oversight he still chipped in with goals, several very important ones that helped keep us in the Premiership in 2005/06 and as many as some, almost as many as others in only a handful of games in the 2006/07 - despite being sent out on loan and being injured when he returned - than others did in the whole season.

It was believed that Todorov would sign a new contract, but with little incentive to do so, as it would have been highly unlikely Redknapp would have played him much anyway - even if he should have! - the fans favourite will wave a fond farewell to us.

Many people doubt Todorov's ability to play at this level - and from seeing him at West Ham before Pompey I would have agreed, but having seen him since my thinking is he would have been a huge success at this level without doubt but for injuries, but still could be despite of them.

Wherever Todorov goes - and this could be our first opponent Derby - I wish him all the luck in the world and my thinking is he will score goals if he is able to get a run in a side - and I will be wanting him to do so, unless it is against Pompey!

With Todorov going, Kanu likely to join him and mercenary Andrew Cole another looking like moving on we have the partnership of Benjani and Lomana LuaLua to 'frighten' the lives out of our opponents staring us in the face at the moment.

PLAY UP POMPEY!

Stuuf a load pass the scummers anyway.
storagematt
yep he bang the goal in in the championship and if he gets a full season - or near on - without injuries should he find himself in the prem next season he would do the same, he just needs that run to get going again, something he was not going to get here was he...
pompeyrug
Good luck Toddy!!
CharlieChimes
we will let him go, he will win the golden boot next season in the championship, and then be sold to bolton next year for 10 million. What a playor!
pompeycarpet
is that sold for £1.0m :) we will miss him, shame he did not get more of a chance when he should have...
pompeyrug
