Martin Cranie's arrival at Fratton has bucked the recent trend in the other direction, Viafara, Quashie and Ricardo Fuller have headed West in recent years, but who was the last man to join the good ship Fratton from our bumpkin neighbours? Who has been the best signing from the other lot, and who was the worst?

No prizes for this one, but plenty to stir up memories good and bad I'm sure, I think I can recall the last man to swap the deck chair outfit for royal blue, but I could be wrong!

When someone comes up with what I think is the correct answer, I will say so, I'm not 100% so am prepared to be corrected!
paultsmouth
was scott hiley the last?
pompeyrug
Darren Anderton. In terms of upbringing or (maybe not) youth club anyway.
Lysimachus
was it "git deyn the bi line" mickey channon
russellm
i know we had matty robinson, but i am certain he came from scum a year before hiley... i cannot think of another after tho...
pompeyrug
Anderton didnt play for scum just an accident of birth, i thought hiley but that answer was too boring
russellm
Good old Harry!!!! Harry Redknapp's Blue & White Army!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Agent Harry completed his mission!!
TruePompeyBlue
actually i shall exclude my self as i have just cheated and looked it up in my book of pompey versus scum games
russellm
boring but correct russell :) maybe? technically the last pompey personality to switch red for blue before cranie was 'arry wasn't it...
pompeyrug
Having missed out on getting Walcott & Bale on the cheap before the North London Giants paid out £25,000,000 to the scum, we have one for £2.50 ish. Has he been sheep dipped?
storagematt
I reco it must have been Alan Mcloughlan
sinsam
Hiley was the one on my mind, on the other note Robinson was crap, Macca was class and excused the "scum" tag as he only played once as was treated like dirt
paultsmouth
Shame Hal didn't subtly indoctrinate Wallcot or Bale, decent players
Et_tu_Pompeii
Macca was the best signing coming this way, the worst ever ever ever was when I was a lad Ron Davie's..but it worked out good in the long run. Now for all you youngen's we sawppwed RD for George Graham from Man Utd, then a little later we swapped GG for David Kemp from C/Pallace and he was a player,a freddie eastwood of his day.

sky says we are looking at Ogbuke, (used to calll himself EDU) the rather good trialist we had here. Sky says we tried to sign him but could not get a work permit. It seems Arsenal and spurs think differently and are discussing with the authorities
russellm
The Arse & The Spuds can probably pull more strings with their friends in high places. Let's face it how would notice another immigrant with iff paprwork?
