Harry misses out on Kanoute

Fredi Kanoute will be staying in Spain for at least the next two years after scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win for Savilla over Getafe in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday. Also off Redknapp's list is Nicolas Anelka who has been strongly linked for a return to Arsenal after the North London side and English football said goodbye Thierry Henry.

A jubilant Kanoute said after the win 'I've got two years left on my contract and I'm not planning on moving from here. I've read a lot of things that aren't true. I've had two great seasons here and now we've won another trophy. My aim is to keep on fighting for Sevilla.'

With the hunt for a striker gathering pace, Redknapp will need to ensure that a goalscorer is brought to the club after a poor scoring record from a lacklustre strike force at Pompey. The combined record of goals from the current crop of forwards brought just eight league goals since November 2006 and he would need to address this if the Club are to emulate or improve on the 2006/07 season. With the defence now shored up more than the Thames Barrier, perhaps £7million is not too much for Preston North End's free scoring David Nugent after all?

Another one bites the dust. Could be our theme tune, let's hope not.

i'd prefer smith to be honest

ah well, you can't win them all...but it does seem like we can't win any at the moment. I just hope that 'Arrys got somebody up his sleeve, or next season could not be as good as we hope :(....on a brighter note, we have finaly been linked with lita, with Reading aparantly asking for about 5million, that could be a good deal.
pompeycarpet
Lita would be a good purchase, I thought Nugent was going to Everton if he went anywhere? but if not I think Nugent would be the better buy even at £7mil.
Sachas_Brother
it was last years theme tune, we have to make it worth the while

that should have been make it worth their while, we were too slow again, but i think we will see Kanoute move somewhere before next season. I cant see that Reading will sell Lita to us. I think we are more likely to be looking at that failed polish striker at palermo or something similar.
russellm
i think it will be the cricket for me Rabbi, LoL followed by a long lazy summers evening in front of the box for sky's game of the day after Muntari, Pazzini, Nugent AND Yak have each put one past Bolton.....
russellm
yea a man of simple taste me...nothing tooo extravagant

I'd imagine that the scum fans are accountable for the 28% voting to go to Lords than face another defeat again.
Lysimachus
Only 28% Lysimachus?? Mind you, I'm amazed they even have the intelligence to be able to vote!
TruePompeyBlue
not too upset about loosing out on Freddie, would have liked him, but would prefer Smith if poss...I wonder if hes enquired about Lita?
CharlieChimes
hope so (about lita), but i would prefer Yak to Smith...but thats just picky... and i wont be at the cricket - i just find it so...boring

I see reports on the net are saying Utaka has agreed in principle to join us with Kranjcar going the other way. Wouldn't like to lose Krunchy and Utaka's scoring record doesn't look to be the answer to our problems, he would also be likely to disappear in January for the ACN. Come on Harry there's got to be a non african striker out there that can do the job for us.
Steve C
how quickly things change in the world of football eh! if we had made a serious move sooner maybe we would have got him? but there you go, another to cross off the list - i would quite like smith crossed off this list too tbh...
pompeyrug
Harry has told 5 live that he doesnt want Krunchie to leave, says we need him, i agree the lad has just got up to speed, playing confident football for club and more worryingly country. Now's the time to consider extending his contract in january maybe.
russellm
a south american perhapse pompeyrug, they will have finished the copa america, and should be ready and fit to go, if he is euro based he would be likely to need a rest sometime befor chrimbo but that can be managed.
russellm
that is good news i have said for a long time that letting kranjcar go too soon would be a huge mistake. we started to see some great stiff from him as he adjusted to the english game didn't we - plenty to come from the fella this season... saviola would be quote nice!
