Established striker under 25, please

Harry Redknapp will sign an established striker aged under 25 for Pompey! Not my view, yours - although these findings from the poll are thoughts I share - in both hope and expectation.

The majority that voted are of the opinion that Redknapp is most likely to 'break the bank' to sign an established striker aged under 25 for Pompey. With many of the names being linked with Pompey around the age of 24 or 25 there is every chance of this - but many people also feel that Redknapp likes his 'old guard' a lot so we might not get this.

The least likely arrival - with Redknapp breaking the bank - would be a promising striker aged under 20. In many ways this is fair enough, even for Redknapp - who is well known for not turning to young talent that often, particularly at a cost.

How you voted - established striker aged under 25 48%, experienced striker aged under 29 25%, veteran striker aged 30+ 14%, promising striker aged under 20 13%

Current Poll - There is no escaping the great Pompey striking debate and the theme yet again continues - as does our search - with your opinion sought on your preferred arrival.

Now three of the men most heavily linked with the club are being looked at in Sachas_Brother's poll - 'Next Pompey Striker, who would be the preferred choice?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

is 'arry saying 3 strikers please or 'read between the lines' referee - probably graham poll... Midge, bent is edging closer to spurs so if you are right mate defoe could be edging ever closer to pompey?

its got to be said you dont want a veteran to end his career with you, although the experience would be great, pace from a younger player would be better i totally agree with the poll results

Would settle for any of them as long as it is one of them.

seems Harry thinks Kanoute is " the second highest goal scorer in spain, a real hand full but only worth 3 million ish and not the additional 4 million sevilla are asking for", personally i think that is a bluff, or we will be re hiring Kanu AAARRRRGGGGHHH

got a few new rumours for all of you (btw this is pompey pessimist in a new alias :D ..... RUGSTER .... nice one on claiming the site for yourself, doin a great job btw :)). first rumour is that we about to sign a SCUMMER .... yes thats right .... full back Martin Cranie. Hes 20 yrs old and the value will be set by a tribunal! The source (web) i got this from says its from The People (how reputable is this source!?) second rumour (one we have heard) is about mr nugent. looks like we were on, then off, but it looks like we are gunning in for him again. we have APPARENTLY given nugent 10k more a week in a 2mil a year deal to outdeal sunderland and that we have matched the 6 mil price tag. (again the web source states this is from The People) ...... what do we think? substance or baloney?

why the name change pessimist? yep the Nugent thing is floating around again its a three way thing the macams, the tacams and us. My mate the QPR martyr reckons they put an offer in for the full back as part of a three way tie up with Lee Cook but it was turned down becase Cranie said he wanted to stay local. I think its fair to say we have all been looking at strikers so it could be a goer. Plenty of time yet

hi rusty! :D well..... i couldnt log in to this part of the website with the pessimist alias, and i got bored just READING what people had to say... its about a year ago i signed up so thought id put my input back into it! "the macams the tacams and us" thats such a LOL phrase! i hear boro are gonna go after javier saviola .... and the difference between us and them is ...?! hes on a free... we could at least give him a contract offer, see what he thinks?! or is that dumb?!

I think I uggested saviola a while back :)...he would be a class signing, and would fit out striker problem neatly. Lita is also being kicked around (the mirror), for about 5 million, which you cant complain about. I dont think we will go for nugent - at 10million, he is too expensive! Martin Craine I think would be more likely, with him wanting to link up with tony adams - who has decided to stay on :).

unfortunatly, sky sports say that Hary could offer Kranjar for Utaka - something i would not like to see happen at all. If we can get him for money, so be it, butlets not throw away one of our best playors!

I dont think HR should look at letting Nico go anywhere at the moment we havent seen everything he has go to give and from the little we have seen that should be very entertaining! I heard on Sky Sports News the other day that if Defoe was to leave spurs it would be to Villa (has anyone else heard this rumour?)

I reckon you are right pompeycarpet, now he is up to the game speed i think letting Krunchie go is a bit stupid really, yep i heard the Defoe thing, i think HR is likely to be looking at a striker who has managed nothing in the last year or so on the off chance he can turn him around. I suppose it worked for half a season, but i would be happy with Saviola and Pazzini, but i think the problem we will have is the same as last year i.e. it is back to that lack of facilities thing.

Nope s[poiler it aint dumb, but he is used to the best of everything so im not sure he would be intrested in coming to retire here. Hey spoiler, where did the name come from, was it air spoiler, wing spoiler or combi spoiler :-}

Letting Kruncky go would be a very big mistake in my book. The guy showed flashes of briliance last season. The Fulham & Liverpool goals both showed scoring instinct, & we lack that big time at the mo!, plus, if King Mendes is ever out, hes the best player we got at holding the ball in the mid. I think hes a riseing star, & could be a great player in a couple of seasons!

actually its my gaming nickname .... which i just use for everything now. ever heard of counter-strike??? well i used to be guy who rushed in with a nade and a crap gun ... basically the kamikaze guy but it would always spoil the plans of the opposing team! i think it fits the bill well! lol @ combi spoiler :p the problem i think we face the most is that newcastle are our new bolton .... its big sam. players want a decent manager to work for .... sam and harry are the top for the "rest" of the top table managers. why the F**K anyone would want to go to boro working for an inexperienced manager likely to get sacked in a year is beyond me! but back to the point .... pompey or jordyland?! im affraid players will be drawn into the PAST of newcastle and think they are better than us! i think we wont sign any big names .... because like last year we are too negative about what we can achieve "i cant go for him" type of rubbish i hear... WHY NOT?! we are almost a top 6 club .... well ALMOST! fact is we are getting beaten to transfers by a has been club (newcastle) and a chameleon club (boro). we had one recognised class striker in kanu, when he goes we will back to the relegation clubs with strikers no 1 has ever heard of! i dont get it! still theres long time to go!.... if we can buy 2000 midfielders why cant we buy 2000 strikers?! smith, pazzini, saviola, yakubu, lita and defoe please! LOL

"why cant we buy 2000 strikers?! smith, pazzini, saviola, yakubu, lita and defoe please! LOL" I would take any of those, but 2000 would be a little over the top...maybe only 1000 :D
