Pompey are being 'linked' with strikers all over the shop, so we are taking a look at the ones most 'strongly linked' - or so we are being told most strongly linked - in turn. They are not in a preferential just alphabetical.
You would think being Brazilian Luis Fabiano would have it all - but maybe not?
The striker started out as a 15-year old in Brazil and made his name with Sao Paulo. Not wanting to do him a disservice but his 50 plus goals in just over 60 games in not uncommon with Brazilians in their homeland - the true test comes when they venture into Europe - and Fabiano was not a great success in France or Portugal but has been successful with Sevilla.
Harry Redknapp has 'reportedly' watched him in the past, but is also said to have come away more impressed with his former West Ham striker Fredi Kanoute - Fabiano's strike partner at Sevilla.
Fabiano is the Brazilian who's mother was famously kidnapped by gunmen a couple of years back and also like a fight, happily doing so during a match - as he has with Sevilla.
I do not know the figure being quoted for Fabiano? But the Brazilian international does not have a very impressive goalscoring record at all on the whole during his time in European football - although 1 in 3 for Sevilla is not bad and he has won two Uefa Cup's in two seasons.
Brazilian footballers are generally all brilliant and Fabiano is no exception, but in terms an out and out goalscoring forward my own thinking is he is not that - but I could be wrong - so my thinking is a rating of 2 out of 5 on his chances of signing for Pompey.
Next under the microscope will be Fredi Kanoute.
