Is Harewood the Pompey solution?

Marlon Harewood is trying to complete a move away from West Ham and his agent - Mick Maguire - has said to sky sports.com that Pompey are one of four clubs 'keeping tabs' on the striker.

'There are four Premier League clubs who have expressed an interest in signing Marlon.

'Birmingham have already seen one bid turned down by West Ham for Marlon.

'Fulham, Portsmouth and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the situation'.

A number of years ago a group of south west supporters club members were discussing Harewood - back then he would have been around 19 or 20 - and then they were saying he could be worth looking at. Some 8 years or so later links return with a Pompey move.

He has had his moments but has not lived up to his billed potential in my eyes.

West Ham's first season back in the Premiership was brilliant for him but he went off the boil in 2006/07 - but maybe this had as much to do with what was going on with the club off the field as much as anything?

An asking price of 5million is being 'reported' and whilst I do think he could be a good addition to the squad, this has to be too much and I would not really want us to spend this amount here.

We are being linked with everyone, so could he be what we are looking for - I would not be totally against it but I am not sure he is?
