In what I view as a swipe at former Pompey boss Alain Perrin, The News are highlighting what Harry Redknapp has said with his thoughts that letting Diomansy Kamara leave was 'one of Perrin's biggest mistakes'.
'I liked Diomansy Kamara when he was here. He's a good player. They're talking about £5m or £6m for him though. That's crazy money.
'I wouldn't want to pay £5m for a player we let go of in the first place for a lot less than that.
'I think £5m is too much money for him. But I like him - I wish he was still here. It would definitely have been handy having him around still.
'We should have kept him, but the decision was made to let him go.'
I could be wrong but my thinking here is that with reports Perrin - now boss at Lyon - could help dissuade Pompey target Alou Diarra from signing the knife is being stuck in by highlighting the players Perrin let leave Pompey?
Yes, it is true I was not one of Perrin biggest fans and some players that were allowed to leave under his management should never have been allowed to go, but the more I think about things the more I actually feel sorry for the fella for the way he was unfairly treated before, during and even after his time at the club.
Whilst I have no regrets - and do believe we would have gone down under him - the more thought I give to his time here, the more attention I give to the undisputable facts that speak for themselves regarding his excellent track record itself and the more thoughts that I listen to that are being made about him the more I view Perrin in a different light.
But would I want things changed? No, but I would have liked them handled differently.
As for Kamara - maybe it is not just The News sticking the boot in; maybe Redknapp is too - he showed some classy moments at Pompey, but even his transfer to Pompey was just one in a long list that were bizarrely handled.
Like Redknapp I liked the fella and I would have liked to have kept him a little longer but I do not have too many regrets that he 'got away' from us. 20 odd goals in the Championship does not make him a world beater does it.

In my opinion, he has enjoyed a great season in the Championship, where as we all know it can be a much harder game. He has served his apprenticeship and has proved he can score. Anyone who says it's only the Championship needs to watch a few matches from there, to score over 20 goals in that league is still an excellent achievement.
I was against him leaving in the first place, he is severely underrated and being judged on just a few games in which he was not really given a great deal of a chance is wrong. I am sure he would in fact make a huge impact if we got him back here, he'd be playing under Harry and he'd have a huge point to prove too.
