LuaLua to Wigan Camara in return?

Early rumours emanating today in The Sun are claiming that Pompey could be ready to strike a deal with Wigan involving Lomana LuaLua and Henri Camara.

The thought is Harry Redknapp - a known admirer of Camara - is prepared to offer troubled striker LuaLua in exchange for the Senegalese international, who was thought to be heading back to France earlier in the week!

Wigan are in the market for '3 more new players' and Pompey on the look out for strikers. With the already mentioned fact that Redknapp is a fan of Camara's, such a move might not be as unthinkable as it might sound? Other suggestion is Wigan could want cash as well, I would think that is a big no no.

My own thinking is that although Camara would score more goals, LuaLua is younger and has more of a point to prove, so if he decides to stay and if he gets his attitude right this season he could be a more valuable long term asset to the club.

What is the feeling here then fellas, more silly season speculation or could this be a goer - If so what would you think if it came off?

Not true. The Sun is about as reliable as a legless tightrope walker.

Like for like really, a sideways move in my opinion. I'd sooner keep Lualua, I think he is by far the better player and I am certain that he'll be back to form this season. I'm also from the "better the devil you know" camp, we know what LL can do on both sides of the coin, Camara can be just the same only he has always made it clear from the start that he only ever wants to play Premiership football - plus he did score against us for the Scum!

Lysimachus, is the sun as reliable as that tho mate :) yep TPB i tend to agree - altho camara is a player i have not been that keen on us signing all the time he has been linked... lualua has something to prove here, if he really wants to he will...

I think Wigan should throw in a dvd player too.

Lets leave well alone and sign a striker who doesn't need 6 chances to score one!!

No way should we swop Lua Lua for Camara, what would be the point ? Lua Lua has not become a bad player overnight and if he can get his head right this season we all know what a good player he really is. Besides he has had bad luck with injuries (some self inflicted !!), and the tragic death of his son. Onc emore get behind him as he is a player who relies on the backing of fans more than most. Next thing is they will offer us Heskey, who said that it could not get any worse.

i see that eastwood is going to wolves for around £1.5m would he not have been worth a gamble? he would not be a starting striker but would give us a very useful option. he would also be hungry to take his chance in the premiership wouldn't he... besides, what is £1.5m for a player that would most likely - even from the bench - score more goals than most our forwards, excluding kanu - scored put together did last season...

thats a great idea Pomeyrug! I recon thats a great gamble! please Harry, bid £1.75 mil!

Not a chance; Harry is after another 30 year old to firmly cement our name as Dad's Army. He's now turning his attention towards Fredi Kanoute who is currently playing for Spanish side Sevilla. He had gone to see Brazilian Luis Fabiano but got distracted apparently.

let go lualau, go eastwood, but le4ts consider i might be wrong but hasnt camara scored twice as many goals as Lualua in the same period and thats including his off injury period, real injury not just being a prat. he put wigan into ahigher position than us in their first season and he kept them there. Whilst i'm not sure we should go for him i think camara is better than what we have.

Personally i think eastwood as pompeyrug says then fabiano or kanoute of sevilla ( ok i know in my dreams)

my point did not quite make sense at the end - unless you speak jibber jabber, like i clearly do :) but you got the point and most seem to agree. it might not be too late for a bid, but 'arry will have to move fast... how young - and more importantly - how good is this fabiano fella? kanoute is like a younger version of kanu isn't he? but he would probably score more goals. he's got a couple of uefa cup winners medals with them hasn't he - at least 1 for sure - and has done a job in spain, so we could do worse than signing him i reckon...

i'm a self confessed Lua fan and wouldn't like to see him leave, i'm on the fence as far as Camara goes, good player scores goals, but if he doesn't produce straight away the daft scummer thing will surface and people will get on his back and make it impossible for him. LL will be back to his best this season, thats my confident prediction, i think, maybe, possibly

Pompeyrug, fabiano's age i dont know, but he and Kanoute score frequently in their leagues but i just heard a quite rumour regards pompey from a media street mate, pompey are ( it is rumoured/ speculated/ invented) considering offering a player plus cash for Italian under 21 hot shot Pazzini. he reckons the rumour is that Fiorentina are hard up for cash and need a playmaker so will consider selling but dont have the money to buy a playmaker that they need, hence player plus cash rumour/ speculation/fabrication. I have been watching the U21 comp and the Italians have been the best by a long way and this guy probably stands out the most.... but then of course Harry doesnt like Italians, does he ???????

russellm, i too have picked up on the pazzini link - with an article just added :) the diarra article will be in it's way shortly... a quick 'wikipeadia' search should find out what i need to on fabiano's age... i like the look of this italian fella, he has looked good each time i see him so his arrivial - if 'arry can overcome his 'fear' of italians - would be a good move, but i am not sure about the £7m + being spoken about, but as we know strikers cost good money don't they... is kanoute really that old is he TPB. i know he has been around a while but i didn't know he was that old...

I dont think everyone can be measured with the same stick when it comes to age. I mean, u watch Kanu on the pitch, & you can just see tired legs. The guy physicaly cant run some times! I dont mind getting a guy in his late 20s if he is fit. I also watched Freddie (Kanoute) in a couple of games for Sevilla & theirs no problems with his fitness, so it does vary on the player. Still, I really like the idea of pickin up Eastwood for relativley cheap, giving us a young English striker!

Luís Fabiano Clemente (born November 8, 1980 in Campinas, São Paulo), better known by his first name of Luís Fabiano, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a forward. He enjoyed great success at Brazilian side São Paulo FC, with a disappointing spell in French football sandwiched in between. His strength on the ball, accurate finishing and pace made him a vital part of the side that fell in the Semi-Finals of the 2004 Copa Libertadores de América. After a troublesome season with Portuguese football club FC Porto, he joined La Liga side Sevilla FC. He has played for the Brazilian national team, winning the Copa América 2004 tournament with them. In 2005, his mother was kidnapped by gunmen in Campinas [1]. She was rescued by police 61 days later. [2] On 10 May 2006, Fabiano scored a brilliant goal using his head during FC Sevilla's 4-0 victory over Middlesbrough in the 2005/06 UEFA Cup Final In January 6, 2007, he had a fight with Carlos Diogo from the Real Zaragoza while they were in a match. After squaring up to each other, Fabiano aimed a push to Diogo's throat, before Diogo punched Fabiano's head, which made him fall and stagger. Blimey, looks spot on for Pompey from a few years ago, then!

was it eastwood 'arry had at west ham? if so you would think he would have some idea on the player wouldn't you - as much as £2m is nothing these days and would have more than been worth a punt... until he signs on the dotted line for wolves we have a change... another fine bit of 'wikipeding' Et_tu_Pompeii...

Yep, Harry discovered Eastwood whilst at West Ham, put him in their youth academy program - but that suit full of crap otherwise known as Glen Roeder decided that Eastwood (as well as the majority of Harry's signings) felt he wasn't up to standard and let him go. Funny that, Roeder did that with almost all of Harry's players, yet at least three of them are now playing full internationals on a regular basis for England. Roeder, you are useless, a waste of space, no wonder you lost our job at West Ham and also Newcastle!

I think Camara is a Kanu style player. starts off extremely well, scores a few, kisses the club badge on shirt type thing, loses touch in front of goal around xmas, and then it all goes wrong, and any club who might show interest are the 'club I've always supported as a boy'.
