'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We could always turn to Mbesuma!

We say that Pompey have no strikers, we forget the mighty Zambian international Collins Mbesuma! All we need to do is pay him in pies and cheap Portuguese beer and we are laughing.

How is Mbesuma still with Pompey? I felt sure Mbesuma had been released last summer, but then it turned out he was only sent out on loan to CS Maritimo in Portugal. I then felt sure he would be released this summer - but he still has a year left on his deal - so he is still with and will remain with the club unless he is sold.

Mike Makaab - his agent - has told the goliath that is the Times of Zambia that Mbesuma is coming back, but only until a deal can be arranged elsewhere, if indeed it can?

'Mbesuma has to go back to Portsmouth while we are still looking at other options. So far we haven't yet got anything for him elsewhere.'

Pompey chief exec Peter Storrie had already confirmed, beyond doubt he has no future at the club a few weeks back.

It was thought that Portuguese Superliga side Maritimo could turn the loan into something more permanent but it is understood that Mbesuma - who finished the clubs top goalscorer with 7 goals during the 2006/07 season, not too many behind Kanu then! - is unwilling to stay with them.

How are Zambia doing in their African Nations qualifying? If they are not doing so hot we could be looking at a strike pairing of Svetoslav Todorov and Collins Mbesuma when this comes round.

PLAY UP POMPEY!

The only striker crisis we have or had is that Kanu, Cole, Benjani and Lualua only managed seven goals between them since last November to the end of the season!
BWith regard to Mbesuma - isn't it time he was moved on?
TruePompeyBlue
it is incredible to think that he is still here isn't it...
pompeyrug
Didn't he play the double bass in the band?
storagematt
Why are you all so Anti, surely he has a role to play, a role across the pitch would remove any surplus water, and make him feel usefull. Too many people look at the negative, come on be nice, this guy probably only earns each week the same as you do in a year, Bring Back Collins, its a good tonic if your dieting.

Tears are forming, this type of talk is reducing this grown man to tears, please HR find us some strikers as I fear insanity is starting to sink in amongst the fans.........
Sachas_Brother
Sachas bro! calm down...we got no problems, plenty of time yet. Never should have got rid of Mornar...the guys a Pompey Legend!
CharlieChimes
So, having established that this bloke is a porker, can't score, can't even be given away and has a year left on his contract, can someone tell me what the attraction was that made us buy him in the first place? I really don't know. Is there a chance he could suddenly come good and be the answer to our top striker prayers?
Et_tu_Pompeii
would be nice!!
CharlieChimes
Nah never gonna happen is it, its a bit sad that we are still having to pay him.... rememebr the buid up...South Africa's leading scorer.... Give him a roll! a plate of sausage rolls. What happened to Mveumba ??
russellm
I heard they were asking 3 mil for him, not sure if Harry wants to take that up, but the gaol he scored against Watford was the instingtive type of striker we need from players!
CharlieChimes
I remember Perrin saying Mbesuma was "still not up to fitness just yet" halfway through the season, he just didnt have the balls to say he was bit of a whole bargain bucket eatin lard boy!
CharlieChimes
We could use Mbesuma to give shade over the away end and all the qaushie shots will bounce off his stomach.
Lysimachus
Didn't Mbesuma look like a 1930's jazz man?
paultsmouth
poor jazz man mbesuma, the fella only wants to eat - can we blame him for this... when he arrived - just going on his past reputation - i very nearly put him in my fantasy football team for that season, that was a lucky escape, altho i still did crap anyway, as ever...
pompeyrug
Lysimachus..thats genius!
CharlieChimes
love it paultsmouth, :-) take five with Dave Brubeck, Jerry mulligan and charlie parker mbesumba, LIVE AT THE GARDEN???? Madison square garden!!! , NO southsea Rock garden
russellm
