Pompey's Home run ended

Pompey's Home run ended

The 2007/08 Premiership fixtures have been revealed and Pompey finally see their home run end, as we start away to newly promoted Derby.

Our 2007/08 season will see us begin at Derby's Pride Park, our first away game at the start of the season since 2001/02, when we drew 2-2 with Wolves after being 2-0 up.

Pompey's first game at Fratton sees United come to town on the Tuesday, this starts a run of 4 out of 5 games against last season's top four - the other fixture against 1 from just outside - so not an easy start, but at least our run in is favourable!

Should we go into the last half a dozen or so games with more than a chance at making it into the Uefa cup I think most of us would fancy this, with our last match being at home to Fulham.

Not as easy a you might think. I remeber when you got promoted into the elite everybody thought that you would be an easy game but you proved everybody wrong, you lot should do well to remember that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...and you would do well to remember Dicsky that clubs coming up via the play-off rarely stay up. If you have the strength at the club to go up via the top spot then chances are you will stay up, but let's face it Derby scraped a third place via a play off; not exactly grounds to believe you will still be here next season is it?

Aye I'm not Derby you need to check me up I'm just letting you know that there is no easy game even Sunderland might pick up 20 points this time round.

Rather not had the promoted team away but what the hell, it's a game we should have down to win Let's hope the big 4 are slow starters! Thanks Dick for your input, but we can work it out for ourselves.

derby made it tho - that is all that mattered... they will not be easy, but i cannot think of many games i would have rather had than this if i were honest, altho a home start - as usual - would have been prefered... 3 points from this game are very important considering we have united, bolton, chelsea (a), arsenal (a) and liverpool on the spin after - at least it gets them out of the way... we have a nice little run in tho dont we fellas!

Would have preferred to be at home on the opening day, but Derby is a bit of result, shame they will have to lose their first game in the Premiership..........

Derby are an industrial, over-physical, unrefined long-ball outfit. Teams like this, generally don't last long but occasionally hang around for a few years, Bolton being a good example. My tip for relegation.
