Harry Redknapp admits to his admiration of Reading's Stephen Hunt - a player we are apparently tracking - but also rules out a move 'I haven't even thought about him. I don't see why he would be leaving Reading.'

Something that worried me slightly were reports that we could move for Henri Camara for £3million, but this has probably been borne out of Redknapp's previous ties with the Senegalese international during his time with him when he suffered his mental health issues and went down the road. God knows another misfiring striker is exactly what we do not need - especially with him the wrong side of 30, or at least approaching this.

Guinea international Fode Mansare, currently with Toulouse is the latest French based player to be linked with the Premiership and Pompey. The 25-year old winger is set for a move to the Premiership, so it is little surprise that he is linked with Pompey, most others are!

The thing that really caught my eye though were the worrying claims - to me anyway, I am not sure how anyone else would view this - by L'Equipe that Benjani is keen on a return to France?

The Zimbabwean international arrived as our then transfer record signing from Auxerre for £4.4million in January 2006. He may have struggled for goals but his work rate and effort make him worth his weight in gold, if we could get a goalscorer alongside him this partnership could be dynamite.

So, hopefully news of possible interest from champions league qualifiers Marseille is nothing more than idle gossip and we will see the fans favourite again here next season.

hunt - good footballer but not what we need at all, and 'arry admits this which knowing 'arry means we will sign him next week… camara again a good footballer but any better than what we already have here, I do not think so… fode mansare is not a name i am familiar with, but much like hunt i am not sure this is an area we need to look at… Benjani - god knows i hope this is mere gossip and nothing more, he might not score but he offers the club so much more. with a striker alongside him that could score goals i really believe we could be onto something…

Benji is an excellent guy to have in the team. In a world (team) where you sometimes wonder who is going to 'turn up' for the game, Benji is Mr consistent, you always know what you are going to get from him - in all areas (yep, including the goal scoring stakes). I agre with you, PR, Benji and a goal scorer would be something to see.

Yep Benji might not get many goals, but he works his proverbials off every match he plays. As a provider for a quality finisher he would be truly outstanding.

HR says lots of nice things about lots of good player, we may sign 1% of them. Not too chuffed to see Benji go due his workrate & I'm sure he will score more goal next season.

i was sure he was going to score more goals last season - 10-15 in fact - i was proved wrong, but do agree that if he stays, and i really hope he does, i do think he could get 10 at least next season - providing he has that goalscorer alongside him... brilliant footballer, he must be if marsielle would be keen... do what you have to to keep him 'arry - if he is 'home sick' that's a different matter and would be unfair on him to keep him against his will...
