A lot of the 'talk' over the weekend linked Pompey with a very surprising move for Charlton's Irish midfielder Matt Holland - this talk has been put to bed by Harry Redknapp admitting 'he likes the player but he won't be coming here.'
Carlos Tenorio - an Ecuador international - has declared his interest in moving to the Premiership from his current base in Qatar. Tenorio, who is being linked with Pompey, along with a long list of other Premiership clubs, is claiming he will be free to leave Al-Sadd - his club in Qatar - after the Copa America this summer.
Another 'striker' who is being linked with Pompey - and has been for some time - Marlon Harewood, has been told he can leave West Ham. Again this is said to have attracted the interest of Pompey - and virtually every other team also linked with Tenorio, hmmmm interesting how this happens, make of this what you will. However I have been informed by a source that Harewood will make the move to Pompey - if so he is not quite the name I was thinking we would sign.
Alou Diarra, who has been a target for Redknapp - apparently - for a few weeks has spoken out about his desire to leave Lyon. Pompey are said to have opened talks with the French champions over a transfer, but the reported £4million offered for the midfielder is well below their valuation.
A lot of Vital Pompey's topics seem to be on the same theme - Lomana LuaLua - and the thing that really caught my eye though was The Sun's reports that LuaLua is 'hinting' at a move away from the club to a Spanish club, most likely Osasuna, as he would be appreciated more.
'In countries like Spain, a player of my talent would have a team built around them.
'Everyone has special gifts and fortunately I'm one of those players that can do unexpected and unpredictable things - but that is not always appreciated over here.'
If it is in The Sun it is bound to be true - but it does back up my theory in another article that perhaps the fact that he is not the centre of attention anymore is not to his liking.
Anyway, no doubt the tabloids will serve us up another healthy portion of 'gossip' today!
