'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pompey Chimes (4)

Most of the talk on Thursday surrounding one Pompey target Mark Viduka seems to suggest we will miss out - with him set for a move to Newcastle instead, so this at least allows us to cross one potential target off the list?

Sulley Muntari's Ghanaian countryman Riga Mustapha - a 25-year old winger currently with Spanish side Levante - is said to have attracted interest from Pompey as well as several other Premiership sides. I know absolutely nothing about this fella - can anyone shed any light on him at all?

Titus Bramble - who looked odds on for a move to Pompey last week - is still being courted by Birmingham. The arrivals of Distin and Hreidarsson mean defence is not an area that needs looking at in the slightest so it looks as though the majority that didn't want Bramble here in the first place will be saved. I still think that he could have been a good signing - but he really isn't needed now is he.

The thing that really caught my eye though was Pompey chief exec Peter Storrie claiming in The News that we fended of late interest from Italian giants Roma to make Muntari our club record signing.

Storrie said Roma were 'all over him' last weekend but he chose Pompey because of our continued efforts over the past year to get him - which converted him into a fully blown Pompey fan!

Wow. Muntari had the choice between one of the best teams in Europe and AS Roma.
Lysimachus
it was an easy choice wasn't it mate... pompey win hands down every time!
pompeyrug
Well since we beat Man U 2-1 & then Man U stuff Roma 7-1 of course it is an easy choice. Viduka wanted to stay up north & Brum are welcome to Bramble. Both relegation fodder.

ahamat Riga Mustapha (born October 10, 1981 in Accra, Ghana) is a football (soccer) striker from the Netherlands, who has been playing for Levante UD since the summer of 2005 in the highest Spanish league, La Liga. He previously played for Vitesse Arnhem (1998-2000), RBC Roosendaal (2000-2001), Vitesse Arnhem (2001-2003), and Sparta Rotterdam (2003-2005), for whom he scored 36 goals in two seasons.

I'm sure he's a good forward but just do a google search and take a look at his barnet. Milli vanilli could be on his way. I'm not sure his goalscoring record is that great and at nearly 26 he's hardly a hot prospect.
The Rabbi
So, now were link with Pap Diop!

Seems Harry is at MFI looking at a wardrobe.
storagematt
Hope Glenn Johnsons not with him, wouldn't want him to forget to pay.

I think the allegation was changing price lables. Don't need Diop anyway - he shat on us.
Et_tu_Pompeii
isnt Muntari 22
russellm
Im glad Harry is starting to look at the future and not the present. You may disagree but Hernan, Sol, Lauren and to some extent Kanu are quick fixes, I mean great quick fixes but their not going to be there for more than a couple of years. Muntari however is under a 5 year contract and we also have Niko whos starting to come out of his shell. If we can get a few more young startlets then we will be sorted. o yeah, Arnie as well. THE YAK IS BACK!!! WOOP
PompeyGleamer
I got a real good feeling about Niko. Every now & again you see him do somthing really good which shows his talent! I think hes gonna rip it up next season!
CharlieChimes
its a fine balance between the hear and now and the future - we are getting to a position where we can now do both aren't we PompeyGleamer... yep niko will be something else next season and i for one very much look forward ot seeing what he does...
