Pompey's pre-season confirmed

Pompey's pre-season confirmed

The official Pompey site has revealed the details of our pre-season programme - which is as follows.

Sat 14th July Yeovil (a) 3.00 pm
Tue 18th July Havant & Waterlooville (a) 7.30 pm
Wed 19th July Eastleigh (a) 7.30 pm
Tues 24th July Fulham (Hong Kong) 6.00 pm (11.00am UK time)
Fri 27th July Asia Cup Final or 3rd place match (Hong Kong)
Tue 31st July Bournemouth (a) 7.45 pm
Wed 1st August Newport I.O.W (a) (kick off tba)
Saturday 4th August Leicester (a) 3.00 pm

As usual we travel to the westcountry for a traditional visit - facing Yeovil, with the also traditional games with the likes of Havant, Eastleigh, Bournemouth and Newport taking place with us finishing with a trip to Milan Mandaric's Leicester - for what will be an emotional day.

The money spinner is the participation in the Asia Cup in Hong Kong - a competition favoured over the intertoto cup, which could have given us Uefa Cup football. Clearly the financial benefits - and the opportunity to make a name in the Asian market - have been too good to refuse.

Whatever happens though I am sure Pompey will have a good following wherever we go - even in Hong Kong!

Can't be that prestigious if Fulham have been invited.

I'm looking forward to Yeovil away, apart from that its not that exciting. why don't we play a big foreign team rather than Leicester away and a couple of non league sides?

I agree, Fulham were a stone's throw from relegation and a poor team so what must Liverpool think? Fulham and Pompey? I doubt they have much regard for either of them. They are obviously looking at the bigger picture - MONEY and a topping-up of their Far Eastern profile.

hong kong will be another away day - a very long way to travel away day - and you know what pompey are like on away days, we'll play for a draw and hope to nick it :) beat fulham and then face liverpool in the final, if we beat them - as they already have a big profile - it can only help raise ours... i would say the yeovil game is the one i am most looking forward too also, with respect to havant, eastleigh and so on it doesn't really give us much of a pre-season does it - but just getting players playing again is the main thing i suppose...

Remember Southend last year, just goes to show pre-season counts for nothing. As for the Asia Cup I will tip a Pompey win. Unfortunately it could come in the 3rd and 4th play-off.
