Vote for Linvoy Primus NOW!

Vote for Linvoy Primus NOW!

Earlier in the week TruePompeyBlue called for you to help make David James the SKY Sports goalkeeper of the year - sadly this failed.

Now I call for your help as another Pompey player is in the running for defender of the year, this man is Linvoy Primus - or Optimus Primus as I more affectionately name him, a tag Chris Stanton also gave him in his review of Primus' season when he said.

'Optimus Primus transformed Portsmouth's defence in tandem with Sol Campbell, also a robot in disguise judging by the latter's final season at Arsenal. A late developer at Premiership level, man mountain Linvoy excelled in 2006/07, as Pompey narrowly missed out on claiming a place in Europe. The Jamaican stopper also enjoyed the joint highest overall skysports.com rating (7.0) of any defender.'

Optimus will not become the defender of the year, but what a great season he has had - for him to gain recognition from SKY alone shows just how good it was - the arrival of Sol Campbell unquestionably helped him but he was, and is still one of the best defenders around regardless.

Primus is currently languishing at the back of the field - but ahead of Gary Neville - but help him to gain more of the vote by clicking here and voting.

for any pompey player, optimus in particular to gain praise from SKY shows just how good his season was... to be selected in the top 6 defenders in the country is some achievement - and something richly deserved...

Agreed, just a shame he is so far behind. However I did manage to make multiple votes....

if you look at the front runners its safe to say that scousers and mancs are the biggest voters, you only have to see the f.a team of the year for that!

the fa team of the year was an absolute joke, it was picked by united wasn't it... optimus will not be able to keep pace but lets just hope he finishes above the likes of lescott in 3rd at least - result, of sorts...

I have to say that as good as Linvoy Primus is, he isn't the best defender in the land. I think that honour belongs to John Terry. Just being honest.

i think it would be stupid of any of us to think that optimus is the best defender in the land as he isn't, terry possibly is the best - in terms of last season tho i would have him right up with, if not above terry tho...

optimus is hanging in there... my 1st thought - when reading the 'jamaican' bit - was that he was a 'token' player as sky felt they could not just have the big boys, but he is there on merit... spineless steve, with ferdinand and dawson pulling out get on the blower and call up optimus primus - linvoy for england!

Finest in the Football League

I don't hide how highly I rate Chaplin. I feel he's the best striker in league two - better than most in league one. Cook said he is the best goalscorer outside the Premier League.
