A gloating reminder

24th April? The day after St.Georges? Maybe, but to anyone blue 24th April 2005 was the day Pompey hammered the team down the road 4-1 and basically condemned them to life in the coca-cola league, not that I want to gloat in past glories, but it is a nice anniversary and probably should be a public holiday in Hampshire.

Unforgettable day. Sadly a number of teams in the midlands & up north are doing the utmost to let the scummers back in the play offs. Great are the dreby wins, I can easily go 25 years without one if it meant the scummers stayed at least a league below us. it would make the 4-1 a legendry game.

Remember that game so well - The 25th here in Australia is always a public Holiday so we (Pompeydownunder) all got together and took over a pub. It was still the 24th over there, or as I recollect we didn't have to work the next day - so after the match we all walked down to the Sydney Star City Casino, chanting along the way. What a night, thanks Lua Lua.

My kids still talk about that game now. I told them before the game to expect it to go ' a bit mad' if we scored and to mind people jumping on them during the celebrations. By the half hour mark they understood what i meant.

What a day, I remember being stuck in traffic on the eastern road after the game, we gave the scum fans a, how do you say, warm wave as the coaches went by! ahhh there faces were priceless!

I remember people waiting for 45 minutes in the shop queue to have 'P 4 S 1 24/4/05' printed on the back of their shirts. Even after that the scum fans were still sat on their seats, prevented from going out by the police.

What a match and what a day... Alain Perrin didn't have many good days let alone great did he but he can lay claim to being in charge of one of our greatest ever... I'll never forget this game as long as I live, but how it only finshed 4-1 I still don't know...
