Taylor, is he Macca's solution?

England's left-sided problem has been paramount for years, in fact Chris Waddle was the last natural left-sided midfielder to have success in a position which has become a poisoned chalice.
There is a bloke however who plays football on the unfashionable South Coast for a team called Portsmouth, the ground is tatty, the facilities not the best, but they are however in the Premiership and threatening to gatecrash the European spots.
As England manager I'm sure you can probably gain tickets, Fratton park is situated at the bottom of the A3, barely 60 miles from London where all the proper teams play, not to far to try a visit on a nice day. On arriving at Fratton Park you may recognise a couple of familiar faces who may have dropped off your mobile number list, there's big Sol Campbell and his mate David James, you might remember them both from your time as Sven Goran Erikssons' assistant, they both worked for him from time to time. When you take your seat for the match cast an eye to the left hand side of the pitch and look for a young man wearing number 14 (blue shirt), you will notice he can strike the ball better than most with his left foot, and very competently well with his right foot. Keep an eye out for spectacular efforts at goal, don't be fooled in to thinking they are flukes, check the Match of the day goal of the Month archives and you will note they often feature in second place behind two foot tap-ins by your beloved Paul Scholes. You may also take note of the fact he can cross the ball very well and has great stamina enabling him to help the defence when needed.
Mr. Mcclaren when you sit down to pick the next England squad you may like to consider Matt Taylor an option rather than you head-boy from your old club Middlesborough, also look out for the performances of big Sol, James, O'Neil and Sean Davis, they are all English and don't actually play for a foreign club however distant Portsmouth may seem, Sven never showed his face at Fratton, maybe it's about time you showed yours.

He should be in the squad to get him used to the set up, take in the experience. Downing hasn't quite done it for England, how many cjance do you give him. MT is certainly doing it for Pompey. No doubt if was palying for Spurs he would get picked.

a call-up for Matty would prove once and for all that McClaren isnt monitoring the status and regular performances of our club. Almost every week Matty will put in a bogstandard performance of average left wingplay, every now and then he might get a goal which seems to kid the a lot of people into thinking he's played well. He's still way off being that potential superstar we saw at wingback in our glorious promotion season. The only reason for him to be called up atm would be his pretty nifty penalty taking skills

McClaren is the biggest idiot ever to wear an England blazer. The guy is worse than that numpty Swede we had, he is incompetent, incomplete, incontinent and a total waste of space. He should never have been made manager and let's face it, he was not even third choice!! the guy is a complete pillock, he is worse than useless and the only gift he has is that his anus is big enough to take whatever the FA want to shove up there! The sooner he goes the better English football will be.

There is no doubt that wherever you go in the Prem, all the other sides agree that David James SHOULD be wearing the Number One shirt for England, but that jumped up, egotistical, arrogant, self centred, stubborn idiot McClown will never admit he was wrong to drop James, Campbell and Beckham, so England will NEVERqualify for the European Championships because of this pathetic excuse for an England manager.

As a result, Matty Taylor and any other player worthy of an England call up will never get the recognition he deserves because we are Portsmouth and the FA along with McClown will never accept that a player can be that good here. Shame really, as they obviously have never checked their history because we did have players once who were worthy.

One final point - if you are reading this McClown and you want to sue me - then go ahead punk, make my day!!!!!

Cole is crap with his left peg, he only ever uses it to stand on - he's good with his right and there is no denying that. But a natural left footed player is rare and McClown is a blind merchant banker if he cannot see this!! the only reason Downing gets the nod is because he is one of McClown's favourite boys!

Instead of playing players out of position Spineless Steve could do a lot worse than giving Matty Taylor a go... My sister said to me after the game yesterday that his goal has just added support to her Matty for England campaign, it certainly hasn't gone against him. I've had such a campaign for some 4 years... In our promotion season I thought he was an almost cert to play for England in our first season up but injuries, loss of form and team place saw him lose his way but he's come back to be a key player for us, I just hope it doesn't take a move to see him realise this England chance. Spurs have been linked again, but we won't let him go will we... Don't know what LeonardHatred is going on about, obviously doesn't watch Taylor that closely. He still has a bit to go but he has all the basic attributes to make him a successful international... As an attacking option Taylor is on a par, maybe even ahead of Ashley Cole, still needs a little work on his defending but he can still do just that. Not much between Bridge and Cole but if Bridge can't even get a look in for his club - well not much, how can he play. Barry is tasty also but Taylor is right up with them... Why not use our 'friendlies' to try out different people like Matty Taylor, could he do any worse than what we have! The regulars in Spineless Steve's set-up need to know that they can't just waltz into every squad, some fresh blood with players who want to play for England will freshen things up if nothing else. I'm not saying those that are in don't want to play but they need to know they are not assured places, new faces will be giving everything they have to stay in... Gary O'Neil is a man that Steve maybe needs to be looking at as closely, if not more so than Matty Taylor. He might have had a quieter season compaired to the last but he is still having a good one and his will to win is second to none. If Joey Barton can get a chance - another who has a desire to win, then surely O'Neil can? O'Neil can play football to a level above that of Barton, the shortfall many feel Barton has...

Also whilst we are on the subject of internationals when Carson and Foster go back to their clubs next season what is Steve going to do... Does he really think he can be selecting two players that won't even be playing 1st team football ahead of the man that is England's number one... My mate reckons 'he can't go back to Jamo now' but how much more stupid will he look if he didn't give him the recall that we all know he deserves if that proves the case... Crawling back and asking Jamo back will dent his pride but selecting 2 out of 3 players in a position if they aren't even playing will make him even more of a joke - but will he still be in charge next season...

Taylor is still young and will get his chance under McLaren's successor if he maintains his development. He is a fantastic player on his day he just needs to play like he did against Newcastle consistently. The FA are unlikely to sack McClaren until either we fail to qualify for Euro finals or after the finals so hang in there Matty.

Taylor is still young, but at 25 now is the time, he is nearly 3 years older than Downing but will have to hit 35 yard goals every week to make McClaren sit up, while Downing just needs to be fit regardless of form

This England team are going nowhere so maybe, as someone mentioned earlier, it would be better for matty to be called up by That Idiot McLaren's successor rather than the titt himself. Of course, the other theory is that the current team being so bad means Taylor would look good . . . . . . . . . Whatever, he deserves his go at left midfield (I think Downing's crap and Cole should replace Porky Lampard) then if he can't cut it, fair enough.
